Four volunteers were sent from three weight groups to try out the DreamCloud Hybrid. They were placed in various sleeping positions for a two-week period. The two lightweight (130 lbs below), and the heavyweight (230lbs above) sleepers are represented by the other two volunteers. The rest of the team represents the average group, 130-230 lbs, although one is only 155 lbs while the other is closer to 225.
Based on the data we collected over the past 14 days, it seems that most could agree that this mattress has the potential to accommodate a sizable range of positions and body weights but not exactly all of them. If we could rank the DreamCloud Hybrid, we’d give it a solid 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale – medium firm, for sure. It’s plush enough to be comfortable, yet supportive enough to contour the body even in different positions. It’s also worth noting that the mattress was comfortable for two of the three volunteers immediately upon contact. The other took them several days to adjust.
What does it feel like to sleep in different positions?
Flat Back Sleeping
The DreamCloud Hybrid is a great choice for back sleepers of any weight. According to what we have gathered from volunteers, there was no issue with the firmness of the DreamCloud Hybrid. Its construction is flexible enough to support the spine and provide adequate support. Lightweight sleepers may enjoy this one – not only should they feel supported enough, but its top layers should also give them the feeling of being able to lie on top as comfortably as possible.
The DreamCloud Hybrid may be the best choice for average-weighted people. It should provide them with the right balance of support and relief. The coils beneath the mattress should support their hips and sink into the mattress. Heavyweight sleepers should also feel the same to some extent, but those who weigh around 300lbs or more may not find it suitable since they may sink in too much to the point where pressure is produced. Flat Stomach Sleeping
The DreamCloud mattress can provide exceptional contouring and spine alignment for most back sleepers. However, it is also suitable for side sleepers. There are some notable exceptions. Reactions are mixed for our average-weighted sleepers – our 155-lb volunteer found the bed to be able to support and align their body quite well. The top layers of the bed were a little too soft for their 225-pound counterpart, but he was still able to feel a good amount of support.
The DreamCloud Hybrid may be too soft for heavy people, especially those over 300 lbs. The representative of that group said her hips were sinking into her mattress when she lay on her stomach. It was so uncomfortable she couldn’t sleep in this position. Although stomach sleepers with higher than average weights may have issues with the mattress, lighter people may be able to reap the benefits of this mattress better than others. Considering their build, their hips won’t be able to sink in as much, so they should feel as comfortable on their stomachs as with their backs.

Side sleeping
Among the three weight groups, those of average weight are more likely to gain an upper hand when it comes to side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid. For folks who weigh between 130-190 lbs, they may receive an ample amount of contouring support, and the pressure along the hips and shoulders won’t be as much so they should be good. According to our 155-lb volunteer, the experience was worthwhile as they were able to rest well regardless if they switch to either side or stick to one. For those who weigh 190 lbs onwards, it’s a different story.
Both our heavyweight and 225-lb reps have expressed that the mattress was a bit uncomfortable to sleep on sideways. Both have experienced frequent sinking in their hips and shoulders, creating pressure points that may lead to minor concurrent pains. While heavier people may find the DreamCloud Hybrid soft, those less than 130 pounds may find it more firm to allow them to sleep well. This is what our lightweight volunteer can attest: she found it uncomfortable to sleep on one side for long periods of time, but it was quite comfortable when she switched sides. Examining its Pain Relief Capabilities
As our volunteers were having a ball with testing the DreamCloud Hybrid’s firmness, we also managed to examine how well it fared in terms of pain relief. To do this, we set up a pressure map on top of the mattress, and, once that was done, we asked the four volunteers to lay on the back, stomach, and both sides of their bodies to see if there was any significant pressure difference that we could spot right away.
Based on what we observed, it’s clear at this point that the DreamCloud Hybrid could create excellent pressure relief along the back for most sleeper groups. Most people, except for those who are over 300 lbs, will find comfort and relaxation right away. The bed’s layers, which include the memory foam, are sufficient to support their weight and contour their bodies very well. This results in low pressure throughout the entire body. Minimal pressure points produced when a body meets the mattress means there’s less chance of back pains – this is great news for people with constant back issues, especially senior citizens.
In terms of sleeping on the stomach, expect the DreamCloud Hybrid to produce a decent yet everchanging share of pressure points, particularly along the hips. Lightweight and average sleepers may be able to rest soundly without the imminent fear of pent-up pressure, but heavyweight ones, especially those whose structure is adjacent to 300lbs, may need to watch out as too much sinking may lead to an increase in pressure points. We found significant pressure points for most body types when it came to side sleep. No matter how much you weigh, it’s likely that laying sideways on the surface of the DreamCloud Hybrid may make you prone to varying degrees of discomfort, and it gets much worse if you’re heavier. For instance, lighter sleepers may not find the mattress comfortable in this position, while heavier sleepers may feel more pain in their hips and shoulders. We were able to perform a number of tests during the two-week test period to determine if the DreamCloud Hybrid is a solid staple in the bedroom.
Temperature Control
The DreamCloud Hybrid promises to be equipped with excellent cooling abilities, and we couldn’t agree more when we checked the temperature of one of our volunteers through a thermal camera scanner. This is all thanks to its mix of temperature-regulating materials embedded within the mattress: the gel-infused memory foam layer, the breathable cashmere cover, and the coils that encourage more air to pass through.

Motion Transfer
Considering what it’s made of and how it functions, the DreamCloud mattress may not fully absorb a person’s motions, but it does a decent job, regardless. We first noticed that one of our volunteers couldn’t feel the other’s movements changing as much when they became more intense. DreamCloud Hybrid claims to offer great edge support thanks to reinforced steel coils placed around the edges and perimeter. But how accurate is that claim? We tested it by having volunteers lie on the edges of the bed and we found that the claim was mostly accurate. If a mattress has exceptional edge support, sleepers may likely take advantage of its surface without the imminent fear of sinking or falling off it.
While most of our volunteers could attest to the DreamCloud bed’s edges being able to support them decently well, our heavyweight rep said otherwise – those who weigh 230 and beyond may not find this bed supportive enough.
Noise
Beds with innerspring coils as their foundation are notorious for making significant squeaking noises, especially coming to terms with intense movement. The same sort of applies to a couple of hybrid beds with springs sandwiched in between layers of foam.

Unboxing and Off-Gassing the DreamCloud
The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress comes packed neatly and compressed in a box. The size of the mattress will determine how heavy it is. The twin is the lightest and Cal King and King are the most heavy. We noticed that many of our team members found it too heavy to transport alone when we opened the Queen-sized version for our tests. So, we added an additional person to ease the burden.
Apart from the mattress, other contents inside the box include a handy booklet for instructions and a free pocket knife that you may use to open it up from the plastic packaging – that is, especially if you don’t have one of your own. Once you roll it out from the box onto the bed frame where you’ll place it and it’s free from any form of packaging, you will need to wait between 24-48 hours until it’s fully decompressed.
