Four volunteers were sent from three weight groups to try out the DreamCloud Hybrid. They were placed in various sleeping positions for a two-week period. Two of them represent the lightweight (130 lbs below) and heavyweight (230 lbs above) sleepers, respectively, while the rest of the team represents the average group (130-230 lbs), although one weighs 155 lbs and the other is close to 225 lbs.
Based on the data we collected over the past 14 days, it seems that most could agree that this mattress has the potential to accommodate a sizable range of positions and body weights but not exactly all of them. If we could rank the DreamCloud Hybrid, we’d give it a solid 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale – medium firm, for sure. It is soft enough to feel comfortable and supportive enough to mold to the body in different positions. It’s also worth noting that the mattress was comfortable for two of the three volunteers immediately upon contact. The other took them several days to adjust.
What does it feel like to sleep in different positions?
Flat Back Sleeping
We’ve found the DreamCloud Hybrid to be a great bed for back sleepers of all weight types. Based on what we know so far from our volunteers, no one seemed to have any issue with its firmness given that its construction is versatile enough to support the back well and keep the spine properly aligned. Lightweight sleepers may enjoy this one – not only should they feel supported enough, but its top layers should also give them the feeling of being able to lie on top as comfortably as possible.
The DreamCloud Hybrid may be the best choice for average-weighted people. It should provide them with the right balance of support and relief. The coils beneath the mattress should support their hips and sink into the mattress. Heavyweight sleepers should also feel the same to some extent, but those who weigh around 300lbs or more may not find it suitable since they may sink in too much to the point where pressure is produced. Flat Stomach Sleeping
While the DreamCloud mattress may provide most back sleepers with exceptional contouring and spinal alignment, the same can apply to side sleepers, though there are a few notable exceptions. Reactions are mixed for our average-weighted sleepers – our 155-lb volunteer found the bed to be able to support and align their body quite well. Their 225-lb counterpart observed its top layers to be a bit soft under his hips but was able to experience a decent amount of support and comfort.
The DreamCloud Hybrid may be too soft for heavy people, especially those over 300 lbs. The representative of that group said her hips were sinking into her mattress when she lay on her stomach. It was so uncomfortable she couldn’t sleep in this position. Although stomach sleepers with higher than average weights may have issues with the mattress, lighter people may be able to reap the benefits of this mattress better than others. Side sleeping
Among the three weight groups, those of average weight are more likely to gain an upper hand when it comes to side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid. For folks who weigh between 130-190 lbs, they may receive an ample amount of contouring support, and the pressure along the hips and shoulders won’t be as much so they should be good. According to our 155-lb volunteer, the experience was worthwhile as they were able to rest well regardless if they switch to either side or stick to one. For those who weigh 190 lbs onwards, it’s a different story.
Both our heavyweight and 225-lb reps have expressed that the mattress was a bit uncomfortable to sleep on sideways. Both have experienced frequent sinking in their hips and shoulders, creating pressure points that may lead to minor concurrent pains. As heavier individuals may find the DreamCloud Hybrid to be soft under their weight, those who are lesser than 130 pounds may find it a little bit firmer sometimes to be able to sleep properly. Our lightweight volunteer can attest to this: when she tried to rest strictly on one side for a prolonged period, she felt as if the top layers were too firm at times, but when it came to sleeping with her sides interchanged, it turned out to be decently comfortable. To do this, we set up a pressure map on top of the mattress, and, once that was done, we asked the four volunteers to lay on the back, stomach, and both sides of their bodies to see if there was any significant pressure difference that we could spot right away.
We believe that the DreamCloud Hybrid can provide excellent pressure relief for most sleepers. Except for the folks who weigh more than 300 lbs, most sleepers may be able to find comfort and relaxation on the spot – the bed’s layers, including the memory foam, are enough to support their weight equally and contour their silhouette very well, resulting in low pressure across the board. Minimal pressure points produced when a body meets the mattress means there’s less chance of back pains – this is great news for people with constant back issues, especially senior citizens.
The DreamCloud Hybrid will produce some pressure points in the stomach area, especially along the hips. While light-weight sleepers and those who are average may be able rest comfortably without worrying about pent up pressure, heavy-weight sleepers, particularly those with 300-pound structures, might need to be cautious as excessive sinking could lead to increased pressure points. We found significant pressure points for most body types when it came to side sleep. It doesn’t matter what your weight, side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid will cause discomfort. The problem is worse for those who are heavier. Lighter sleepers, for instance, may not enjoy the feel of the mattress in this position for long periods, while heavy-weighted ones may not like it equally as they tend to sink into it more to the point where they feel pain in their shoulders and hips. What was the DreamCloud’s Performance?

When we had two of our volunteers test it out for motion transfer, we first noticed that one of them wasn’t able to feel another’s changing movements as much until they got more intense. The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is neatly packed and sealed in a box. How heavy it is will entirely depend on the size you may prefer, with the lightest being the twin and the heaviest the King and Cal King. When we unboxed the Queen-sized version to be used for our tests, we noticed that some of our teammates find it quite heavy to carry it alone, so from that point onwards we needed an extra person to help ease the burden.
Apart from the mattress, other contents inside the box include a handy booklet for instructions and a free pocket knife that you may use to open it up from the plastic packaging – that is, especially if you don’t have one of your own.
