Four volunteers were sent from three weight groups to try out the DreamCloud Hybrid. They were placed in various sleeping positions for a two-week period. The two lightweight (130 lbs below), and the heavyweight (230lbs above) sleepers are represented by the other two volunteers. The rest of the team represents the average group, 130-230 lbs, although one is only 155 lbs while the other is closer to 225.
Based on the data we collected over the past 14 days, it seems that most could agree that this mattress has the potential to accommodate a sizable range of positions and body weights but not exactly all of them. If we could rank the DreamCloud Hybrid, we’d give it a solid 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale – medium firm, for sure. It is soft enough to feel comfortable and supportive enough to mold to the body in different positions. Their hips, in particular, should sink into the mattress very nicely while the coils underneath support them. Flat Stomach Sleeping
The DreamCloud mattress can provide exceptional contouring and spine alignment for most back sleepers. However, it is also suitable for side sleepers. There are some notable exceptions. Our average-weighted volunteers had mixed reactions to the mattress. The bed was able to support their bodies and align them well, with our 155-lb volunteer. Their 225-lb counterpart observed its top layers to be a bit soft under his hips but was able to experience a decent amount of support and comfort.
The DreamCloud Hybrid may be too soft for heavy people, especially those over 300 lbs. The representative of that group said her hips were sinking into her mattress when she lay on her stomach. It was so uncomfortable she couldn’t sleep in this position. Side sleeping
Side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid is more common for those who are average in weight than the others. People who weigh 130-190 lbs may find the DreamCloud Hybrid contouring support to be sufficient. However, the pressure on the hips, shoulders, and hips won’t be as intense as they should. According to our 155-lb volunteer, the experience was worthwhile as they were able to rest well regardless if they switch to either side or stick to one. For those who weigh 190 lbs onwards, it’s a different story.
Both our heavyweight and 225-lb reps have expressed that the mattress was a bit uncomfortable to sleep on sideways. Both experienced a lot of sinking in their hips, shoulders and hips. This can lead to pressure points that could cause minor concurrent pains. As heavier individuals may find the DreamCloud Hybrid to be soft under their weight, those who are lesser than 130 pounds may find it a little bit firmer sometimes to be able to sleep properly. We found significant pressure points for most body types when it came to side sleep. No matter how much you weigh, it’s likely that laying sideways on the surface of the DreamCloud Hybrid may make you prone to varying degrees of discomfort, and it gets much worse if you’re heavier. When we checked it out by letting out volunteers sit and lie along the edges of the bed, we then found out that it was mostly true, though not entirely. The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is neatly packed and sealed in a box. The size of the mattress will determine how heavy it is. The twin is the lightest and Cal King and King are the most heavy. We noticed that many of our team members found it too heavy to transport alone when we opened the Queen-sized version for our tests. So, we added an additional person to ease the burden.
Apart from the mattress, other contents inside the box include a handy booklet for instructions and a free pocket knife that you may use to open it up from the plastic packaging – that is, especially if you don’t have one of your own. Once you roll it out from the box onto the bed frame where you’ll place it and it’s free from any form of packaging, you will need to wait between 24-48 hours until it’s fully decompressed.
