The DreamCloud: A closer look Dreamcloud Hosting

The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is a standout among luxury hybrid beds. It’s made from the same high-quality materials as all other hybrid beds, but it costs comparatively less. Although it is listed as being in the medium firm range, its comfort level is slightly more firm than average. It’s practically within the range an average person may look forward to sleeping on, but it could also be a concern for those who may not be built for that.

With a profile measured at 14 inches, the DreamCloud Hybrid may be a handy upgrade for people who may have been used to sleeping in lower beds, as its hybrid nature allows them to lay more comfortably with extra cushioning and layers underneath for support. Its overall construction, which we’ll discuss later, allows people with limited budgets the opportunity to upgrade to a better model than their old one.

The DreamCloud Hybrid is the flagship product of DreamCloud, a US-based sleep specialist brand that provides its customers with a luxury-grade yet valuable bedroom experience. Apart from offering them a wide variety of bedding sets, pillows, and bed frames with a lot of designs to choose from, the firm also sells two more premium mattresses, the DreamCloud Premier and the DreamCloud Premium Rest.

Although we’re only going to focus on the entry-level-type DreamCloud here, it’s worth noting that both of those models are made of more expensive material, therefore elevating their comfort levels and price range. This is not meant to discourage you from getting the Original model, by the way, as we’re also going to prove later on in this review that it can achieve close to the same luxurious feel as the other two mattresses at a more budget-friendly cost.

How Does the General Public Feel About DreamCloud?

The DreamCloud mattress, along with its sister models, has amassed over 10,000 reviews as of this writing. Most of these are overwhelmingly positive and can range from how amazing it felt to be able to get a proper night’s rest to how it’s extremely worth the value pricing.

While it may manage to be exceptional enough to win people’s hearts, we shouldn’t fully ignore its fair share of criticisms it has received. The sleepers who say aren’t fully satisfied with the DreamCloud Hybrid have complained about how it was too soft or too firm for their liking. Some even shared their experience of suffering from back/neck/hip pain from sleeping on it alone.

The product can cause a variety of reactions, which may be mixed depending on how long you use it. The main factors that influence how a person feels about the product are their weight, age, climate, and preference for sleeping position. With that in mind, we can’t fully guarantee that the DreamCloud Hybrid may suit all sleep types. However, what we are sure of is that it may be an ideal choice for many who just want overall comfort in their sleep.

Who Should Use the DreamCloud?

  • For those with a strict back, this mattress is ideal in providing ample comfort and spinal alignment.
  • People who prefer sleeping on a medium yet firmer mattress
  • Hot sleepers – The DreamCloud Hybrid’s strategically designed with gel infusion and air pockets, a powerful combination guaranteed to keep the individual cool throughout the night
  • People who are interested in upgrading to a luxury mattress at an affordable price
  • Active couples or partners – Those who share the model with their partners can take advantage of its remarkable ease of movement.
  • Senior citizens – A majority of this age group may suffer varying degrees of chronic pain, especially back pain, and the DreamCloud Hybrid may be their best bet in serving their needs

Who Might Not Like This Mattress?

  • Strict side sleepers – Some lightweight sleepers may find the bed’s surface a bit firmer to lay on, while heavier folks are more prone to sinking, therefore causing intense pressure points to form
  • Heavyweight sleepers – Though this mattress may be able to accommodate most body types, it may not be enough to carry the weight of individuals who lean more towards the heavier categories
  • Folks who prefer a mattress with memory foam – The DreamCloud mattress may have a memory foam layer, but it may not provide what memory foam fans are exactly looking for: a soft, sinking feeling they get when they lie in bed

Test the DreamCloud’s Firmness & Feel

Firmness is one of the very first things you may need to check if you’re looking for a new mattress. It can make it easy to decide whether it is too firm or soft, or whether you are tempted to buy it. The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress’s comfort level may be advertised to be at 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, but how accurate is its claim? We tested the mattress’ overall firmness and felt to find out if DreamCloud is a true brand with its flagship mattress. Dreamcloud Hosting

Four volunteers were sent from three weight groups to try out the DreamCloud Hybrid. They were placed in various sleeping positions for a two-week period. The two lightweight (130 lbs below), and the heavyweight (230lbs above) sleepers are represented by the other two volunteers. The rest of the team represents the average group, 130-230 lbs, although one is only 155 lbs while the other is closer to 225.

The data collected over the last 14 days suggests that the majority of people could agree that the mattress can accommodate a wide range of body weights and positions. However, not all. If we could rank the DreamCloud Hybrid, we’d give it a solid 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale – medium firm, for sure. It’s plush enough to be comfortable, yet supportive enough to contour the body even in different positions. Plus, it’s worth noting that two of the three volunteers found the mattress to receive comfort instantly upon contact, while the other admittedly took them a few days to adjust.

How Does It Feel in Different Sleeping Positions?

Flat Back Sleeping

We’ve found the DreamCloud Hybrid to be a great bed for back sleepers of all weight types. Based on what we know so far from our volunteers, no one seemed to have any issue with its firmness given that its construction is versatile enough to support the back well and keep the spine properly aligned. This one may be a good choice for light-weight sleepers. Not only should it feel supportive enough, but the top layers should allow them to lay on top as comfortable as possible.

The DreamCloud Hybrid may be the best choice for average-weighted people. It should provide them with the right balance of support and relief. Their hips, in particular, should sink into the mattress very nicely while the coils underneath support them. It should feel similar to heavy sleepers, although those who are 300lbs or more might not feel it. They may also experience pressure if they sink too deeply. Dreamcloud Hosting

Flat Stomach Sleeping

The DreamCloud mattress can provide exceptional contouring and spine alignment for most back sleepers. However, it is also suitable for side sleepers. There are some notable exceptions. Reactions are mixed for our average-weighted sleepers – our 155-lb volunteer found the bed to be able to support and align their body quite well. The top layers of the bed were a little too soft for their 225-pound counterpart, but he was still able to feel a good amount of support.

The DreamCloud Hybrid may be too soft for heavy people, especially those over 300 lbs. The representative of that group said her hips were sinking into her mattress when she lay on her stomach. It was so uncomfortable she couldn’t sleep in this position. Although stomach sleepers with higher than average weights may have issues with the mattress, lighter people may be able to reap the benefits of this mattress better than others. Because of their body, their hips will not be able sink in as much. Therefore, they should feel just as comfortable on their stomachs than their backs.

Side sleeping

Among the three weight groups, those of average weight are more likely to gain an upper hand when it comes to side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid. For folks who weigh between 130-190 lbs, they may receive an ample amount of contouring support, and the pressure along the hips and shoulders won’t be as much so they should be good. Our volunteer of 155 lbs found that the experience was worth it as they were able rest well, regardless of whether they switched sides or stayed on one side. For those who weigh 190 lbs onwards, it’s a different story.

Our heavyweight and 225-lb reps both felt that the mattress was uncomfortable to sleep on their sides. Both experienced a lot of sinking in their hips, shoulders and hips. This can lead to pressure points that could cause minor concurrent pains. While heavier people may find the DreamCloud Hybrid soft, those less than 130 pounds may find it more firm to allow them to sleep well. Our lightweight volunteer can attest to this: when she tried to rest strictly on one side for a prolonged period, she felt as if the top layers were too firm at times, but when it came to sleeping with her sides interchanged, it turned out to be decently comfortable. At this rate, minor adjustments are more likely expected.

Its Pain Relief Capabilities

While our volunteers had a lot of fun testing the DreamCloud Hybrid’s firmness, it was also possible to assess how effective it is in pain relief. To do this, we set up a pressure map on top of the mattress, and, once that was done, we asked the four volunteers to lay on the back, stomach, and both sides of their bodies to see if there was any significant pressure difference that we could spot right away.

Based on what we observed, it’s clear at this point that the DreamCloud Hybrid could create excellent pressure relief along the back for most sleeper groups. Except for the folks who weigh more than 300 lbs, most sleepers may be able to find comfort and relaxation on the spot – the bed’s layers, including the memory foam, are enough to support their weight equally and contour their silhouette very well, resulting in low pressure across the board. Minimal pressure points produced when a body meets the mattress means there’s less chance of back pains – this is great news for people with constant back issues, especially senior citizens.

The DreamCloud Hybrid will produce some pressure points in the stomach area, especially along the hips. While light-weight sleepers and those who are average may be able rest comfortably without worrying about pent up pressure, heavy-weight sleepers, particularly those with 300-pound structures, might need to be cautious as excessive sinking could lead to increased pressure points. Dreamcloud Hosting

When it came to side sleeping, we spotted some significant pressure points on most body types. No matter how much you weigh, it’s likely that laying sideways on the surface of the DreamCloud Hybrid may make you prone to varying degrees of discomfort, and it gets much worse if you’re heavier. For instance, lighter sleepers may not find the mattress comfortable in this position, while heavier sleepers may feel more pain in their hips and shoulders. The only anomaly here is the group of average-weighted sleepers, but that doesn’t mean they’re completely free from the pressure points the DreamCloud mattress may bring to them.

Breaking Down Its Construction

What exactly is the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress made of? Standing 14 inches tall, the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is packed with noteworthy qualities that help keep the sleeper relaxed and cool throughout the night. Like some of the top-performing hybrid models of today, it’s equipped with outstanding cooling capabilities, warding off the body’s heat to ensure better sleep.

Built using high-quality CertiPUR-US-certified foam layers of varying firmnesses with a thin tier of memory foam in between, it’s also backed with a set of strong innerspring coils to hold the body together. Let’s look at the DreamCloud mattress’s construction.

Layer 1: Cashmere Blend Cover

Cashmere wool is known for its soft touch and luxurious feel. DreamCloud incorporated this in the cover for its signature mattress model. The quilt’s cloud-patterned design, which is splayed across the mattress, invites the user to lay down on the bed. The material is breathable and has excellent temperature-regulating characteristics to help cool the sleeper at night.

Layer 2: Contouring Soft foam

Since the mattress cover is quilted, after all, you wouldn’t guess which material is stitched onto until now! Under the cashmere-blend mattress cover is a plush, soft, and supportive polyfoam that provides ample support for the body’s weight. This layer, which is 1 1/2 inches in thickness, gives off a pillow-top feeling that most users will likely feel upon touching the bed.

Layer 3: Layer of Memory Foam

Since its inception, memory foam has been widely recognized to adapt and respond to the body’s shape as fluidly as possible and provide much-needed relief from its pressure points. The DreamCloud Hybrid has it placed underneath the quilted top layer. It measures one inch and is just right to support the sleeper, but it doesn’t give off a sinking sensation. Although this material is known for trapping heat well, DreamCloud has incorporated gel infusion to help cool the body.

Layer 4: Layer of Transition Polyfoam

A two-inch thick layer of firm polyfoam is found beneath the memory foam. It acts as a transitional layer between soft mattress and base foundation. It works in two ways: 1) to conform the body’s shape and posture into perfect alignment, and 2) to keep it from further sinking into the mattress until it reaches the coils, which can oftentimes be highly inconvenient.

Layer 5: Innerspring Coils

Speaking of coils, the DreamCloud Hybrid’s very foundation comes in the form of a full system of individually wrapped innerspring coils. Each spring is 8 1/2 inches tall. This contributes to the mattress’s overall height. The coils can be responsive to the sleeper’s changing movements very well. However, the perimeters of the mattress are strategically strengthened with stronger steel to provide better edge support.

Layer 6: Stability Base Layer

Situated beneath the coil set is an inch-thick layer of high-density standard foam. It acts as a foundation for the mattress and is thick enough to prevent the springs moving, but thin enough to allow airflow. Dreamcloud Hosting

them to bounce through. It won’t feel as if it were there, but you will be able to appreciate the fact that it is there to prevent it from falling apart.

Layer 7: Shift resistant lower cover

A tufted cover is added to complete the package. It will keep all layers of the DreamCloud Hybrid safe and sound. Although it’s not considered a layer that makes up the bed per se, it’s built for the sole purpose to secure the foundation that holds it. The mattress’s round borders are embellished with tufted decor. It also has four sides handles that are sewn into the side to make it easy to transport.

What was the DreamCloud’s Performance?

A perfect mattress should be able to adapt to the sleeper’s needs. Apart from accommodating their body type and preferred sleep position, other pressing factors should be taken into consideration – this includes a plethora of activities, habits, and even the climate that they are usually accustomed to. We were able to perform a number of tests during the two-week test period to determine if the DreamCloud Hybrid is a solid staple in the bedroom.

Temperature Control

The DreamCloud Hybrid promises to be equipped with excellent cooling abilities, and we couldn’t agree more when we checked the temperature of one of our volunteers through a thermal camera scanner. This is all thanks to its mix of temperature-regulating materials embedded within the mattress: the gel-infused memory foam layer, the breathable cashmere cover, and the coils that encourage more air to pass through.

This model is ideal for couples or individuals who live in hot climates.

Motion Transfer

Considering what it’s made of and how it functions, the DreamCloud mattress may not fully absorb a person’s motions, but it does a decent job, regardless. We first noticed that one of our volunteers couldn’t feel the other’s movements changing as much when they became more intense. When it came to small movements, it resulted in a lesser to no sign of disturbance.

Similar to most luxury hybrid beds, the DreamCloud Hybrid’s motion isolation capabilities are fairly bearable. This model is not recommended for light sleepers with a restless partner.

Edge Support

The DreamCloud Hybrid is said to provide great edge support with the help of reinforced steel coils around the perimeter/edges, but how accurate is this claim? We tested it by having volunteers lie on the edges of the bed and we found that the claim was mostly accurate. If a mattress has exceptional edge support, sleepers may likely take advantage of its surface without the imminent fear of sinking or falling off it.

Our volunteers can attest that the DreamCloud bed’s edges are able to support them well. However, our heavyweight rep stated otherwise. Those who weigh more than 230 lbs may not find this bed as supportive.

Noise

Innerspring coil beds are known for making loud squeaking sounds, particularly when they’re dealing with intense movement. The same sort of applies to a couple of hybrid beds with springs sandwiched in between layers of foam.

The DreamCloud Hybrid is a rare exception. During our two-week test period, no one noticed any annoying squeaking from the bed. It may have been constructed in a way that makes noise, or how the oil is wrapped up. Dreamcloud Hosting

Mobility made easy

Ideally, mattresses made with a wide variety of materials should be able to strike a balance between contouring and ease of movement – the DreamCloud model achieves this by making its memory foam layer complimentary with other foam layers, not outshine them, therefore allowing it to conform the body’s shape like a light hug. Meanwhile, the coil system beneath the comfort layers should respond to movements quite well, resulting in easier navigation throughout the surface.

As our team tried to move around the bed, we spotted right away that it wasn’t entirely difficult to switch from one side of the surface to another. It would be fine if you were to perform motion-intensive activities on it.

Sex

The DreamCloud Hybrid is a motion-intensive bed that we believe has a lot of potential. Folks who engage in sex once in a while may surely enjoy its ability to adapt to their movements swiftly. The fact that it makes noticeably less noise than other hybrid beds also makes it likely possible for them to engage discreetly.

The medium-firm mattress may not be suitable for partners who prefer to sleep in one or more positions. The DreamCloud mattress is one of the best beds for sex. Dreamcloud Hosting

Durability

As far as durability is concerned, the DreamCloud Hybrid, as we said before, is composed of high-quality materials and certified layers of foam. Based on the many reviews we found, the DreamCloud Hybrid’s overall quality and capabilities could last for not only a few weeks, but even months.

How long this durability could last may change depending on the sleeper’s body type, how often they use it, or if they have one or two more persons who lay on its surface. Reflecting on our two-week testing period, we can all agree that the DreamCloud mattress stayed durable enough to not have its ability to provide comfort compromised. That being said, we believe that it should stay this way for at least seven to eight years. Dreamcloud Hosting

Unboxing and Off-Gassing the DreamCloud

The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress comes packed neatly and compressed in a box. The size of the mattress will determine how heavy it is. The twin is the lightest and Cal King and King are the most heavy. When we unboxed the Queen-sized version to be used for our tests, we noticed that some of our teammates find it quite heavy to carry it alone, so from that point onwards we needed an extra person to help ease the burden.

Other than the mattress, the box also contains a booklet with instructions and a pocket knife. This is especially useful if you don’t already have one. Once you roll it out from the box onto the bed frame where you’ll place it and it’s free from any form of packaging, you will need to wait between 24-48 hours until it’s fully decompressed. Expect a slight off-putting smell because you will be interacting with a brand new mattress.

Models made of synthetic foam layers tend to emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) collected from manufacturing. Since the DreamCloud Hybrid’s foam layers are all CertiPUR-US-certified, the amount should be much less. Regardless, it’s important to leave it out for the smell to dissipate completely after a good day or two. To speed this process up, we suggest that you do so in a well-ventilated environment by opening up all the windows and doors in the room.

Prices and sizes available

Stellar accommodations aside, one thing that the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress arguably shines lies in how it’s priced. Factoring in the kind of materials used in its inception and the remarkable quality of its framework and foundation, it’s no wonder that this model is sold at a range of competitive yet affordable prices.

You may also save money if you order from DreamCloud’s official site. To make it easier, you will receive a set of bedding including sheets, pillowcases and a mattress protector.

The DreamCloud Hybrid is currently sold in six standard sizes, with original prices starting from $799 onwards. For more information, including pricing, dimensions and weight, please see the table below.

DreamCloud vs. other top mattresses

You want to look at other options? We’ll help you with that! Although the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is the most popular luxury hybrid model on the market, there are two alternatives that offer the same comfort and have unique features that it does not. Let’s take a look at each of them! Dreamcloud Hosting

DreamCloud vs. Saatva

The Similarities: Much like the DreamCloud Hybrid, the original Saatva Classic mattress is a luxury hybrid bed that’s excellent in providing comfort and relief to the sleeper’s back. It’s also bouncy and responsive to movements, making it easier to navigate across the surface.

The differences: Saatva costs a little more than DreamCloud Hybrid due to its more complex coil system and Euro-coated cotton pillowtop. The former, which has one firmness option, can be adjusted to suit different body types.

DreamCloud vs. Nectar

Similarities: The DreamCloud Hybrid and Nectar Mattress are both delivered in a box. You and your companion will have to put them together. Both are jam-packed with impressive temperature-regulating capabilities, offer year-long sleep trials, and even come from the same parent company, Resident.

The differences: The DreamCloud Hybrid bed is a hybrid, while Nectar is an all-foam mattress with a thick layer of memory foam between. This means it can easily adapt to a wide range of sleeping positions than just the back. Many even find it to be best suited for strict side sleeping.

Our final thoughts: How is the DreamCloud Hybrid mattress holding up so far?

It’s clear that the DreamCloud Hybrid is an excellent luxury hybrid mattress. We have taken a closer look at it and are now fully testing it ourselves.

It can support and accommodate most people’s backs. However, it is not able to alleviate pressure points in some areas. It’s a great choice for anyone looking for a versatile and well-constructed experience.

Although the DreamCloud Hybrid’s medium-firm surface is inviting, it may not be for everyone. We found that the bed does not have enough to hold well for those who weigh as heavy as 300 lbs, more or less. It’s evident that the bed is a welcome staple for couples and single sleepers alike.

Additionally, you have much less to lose if you decide to purchase it. DreamCloud offers a variety of discounts and has a responsive customer support team to help you. For this and all the other good reasons regarding the DreamCloud Hybrid, there’s no doubt that we’re giving it a resounding 4.5/5 stars. For what it is, it’s surely worth the try… and the purchase!
