We sent in four volunteers – each from three different weight groups – to sleep on the DreamCloud Hybrid in different sleeping positions on a two-week venture. Two of them represent the lightweight (130 lbs below) and heavyweight (230 lbs above) sleepers, respectively, while the rest of the team represents the average group (130-230 lbs), although one weighs 155 lbs and the other is close to 225 lbs.
The data collected over the last 14 days suggests that the majority of people could agree that the mattress can accommodate a wide range of body weights and positions. However, not all. We would give the DreamCloud Hybrid a solid 7/10 on the firmness scale, which is medium firm. It’s plush enough to be comfortable, yet supportive enough to contour the body even in different positions. Plus, it’s worth noting that two of the three volunteers found the mattress to receive comfort instantly upon contact, while the other admittedly took them a few days to adjust.
How Does It Feel in Different Sleeping Positions?
Flat Back Sleeping

Based on what we know so far from our volunteers, no one seemed to have any issue with its firmness given that its construction is versatile enough to support the back well and keep the spine properly aligned. The coils beneath the mattress should support their hips and sink into the mattress. Heavyweight sleepers should also feel the same to some extent, but those who weigh around 300lbs or more may not find it suitable since they may sink in too much to the point where pressure is produced. Flat Stomach Sleeping
The DreamCloud mattress can provide exceptional contouring and spine alignment for most back sleepers. However, it is also suitable for side sleepers. There are some notable exceptions. Reactions are mixed for our average-weighted sleepers – our 155-lb volunteer found the bed to be able to support and align their body quite well. Their 225-lb counterpart observed its top layers to be a bit soft under his hips but was able to experience a decent amount of support and comfort.
The DreamCloud Hybrid may be too soft for heavy people, especially those over 300 lbs. Our representative from that group told us her hips were sinking into the mattress often whenever she laid on her stomach, and it reached the point where she found it a bit uncomfortable to sleep in this position. Although stomach sleepers with higher than average weights may have issues with the mattress, lighter people may be able to reap the benefits of this mattress better than others. Side sleeping
Side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid is more common for those who are average in weight than the others. People who weigh 130-190 lbs may find the DreamCloud Hybrid contouring support to be sufficient. However, the pressure on the hips, shoulders, and hips won’t be as intense as they should. According to our 155-lb volunteer, the experience was worthwhile as they were able to rest well regardless if they switch to either side or stick to one. For those who weigh 190 lbs onwards, it’s a different story.
Both our heavyweight and 225-lb reps have expressed that the mattress was a bit uncomfortable to sleep on sideways. Both experienced a lot of sinking in their hips, shoulders and hips. This can lead to pressure points that could cause minor concurrent pains. As heavier individuals may find the DreamCloud Hybrid to be soft under their weight, those who are lesser than 130 pounds may find it a little bit firmer sometimes to be able to sleep properly. This is what our lightweight volunteer can attest: she found it uncomfortable to sleep on one side for long periods of time, but it was quite comfortable when she switched sides. Although it’s not considered a layer that makes up the bed per se, it’s built for the sole purpose to secure the foundation that holds it. How Well Did the DreamCloud Perform?

Noise

Unboxing and off-gassing the DreamCloud
The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is neatly packed and sealed in a box. How heavy it is will entirely depend on the size you may prefer, with the lightest being the twin and the heaviest the King and Cal King. When we unboxed the Queen-sized version to be used for our tests, we noticed that some of our teammates find it quite heavy to carry it alone, so from that point onwards we needed an extra person to help ease the burden.
Other than the mattress, the box also contains a booklet with instructions and a pocket knife. This is especially useful if you don’t already have one. After you have rolled it out of the box onto your bed frame, it will be fully compressed. You should wait between 24-48 hours.
