We sent in four volunteers – each from three different weight groups – to sleep on the DreamCloud Hybrid in different sleeping positions on a two-week venture. Two of them represent the lightweight (130 lbs below) and heavyweight (230 lbs above) sleepers, respectively, while the rest of the team represents the average group (130-230 lbs), although one weighs 155 lbs and the other is close to 225 lbs.
The data collected over the last 14 days suggests that the majority of people could agree that the mattress can accommodate a wide range of body weights and positions. However, not all. We would give the DreamCloud Hybrid a solid 7/10 on the firmness scale, which is medium firm. It’s plush enough to be comfortable, yet supportive enough to contour the body even in different positions. It’s also worth noting that the mattress was comfortable for two of the three volunteers immediately upon contact. The other took them several days to adjust.
What does it feel like to sleep in different positions?
Flat Back Sleeping
The DreamCloud Hybrid is a great choice for back sleepers of any weight. According to what we have gathered from volunteers, there was no issue with the firmness of the DreamCloud Hybrid. Its construction is flexible enough to support the spine and provide adequate support. Lightweight sleepers may enjoy this one – not only should they feel supported enough, but its top layers should also give them the feeling of being able to lie on top as comfortably as possible.
The DreamCloud Hybrid may be the best choice for average-weighted people. It should provide them with the right balance of support and relief. The coils beneath the mattress should support their hips and sink into the mattress. Heavyweight sleepers should also feel the same to some extent, but those who weigh around 300lbs or more may not find it suitable since they may sink in too much to the point where pressure is produced. Flat Stomach Sleeping
While the DreamCloud mattress may provide most back sleepers with exceptional contouring and spinal alignment, the same can apply to side sleepers, though there are a few notable exceptions. Reactions are mixed for our average-weighted sleepers – our 155-lb volunteer found the bed to be able to support and align their body quite well. Their 225-lb counterpart observed its top layers to be a bit soft under his hips but was able to experience a decent amount of support and comfort.
Heavy folks, particularly those who weigh nearly 300 lbs, may find the DreamCloud Hybrid to be too soft for their liking. Our representative from that group told us her hips were sinking into the mattress often whenever she laid on her stomach, and it reached the point where she found it a bit uncomfortable to sleep in this position. While it seems that stomach sleepers who weigh more than average may find issues with this mattress, lightweight individuals may reap the benefits of relief better than other denominations. Side Sleeping
Side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid is more common for those who are average in weight than the others. People who weigh 130-190 lbs may find the DreamCloud Hybrid contouring support to be sufficient. However, the pressure on the hips, shoulders, and hips won’t be as intense as they should. Our volunteer of 155 lbs found that the experience was worth it as they were able rest well, regardless of whether they switched sides or stayed on one side. For those who weigh 190 lbs onwards, it’s a different story.
Our heavyweight and 225-lb reps both felt that the mattress was uncomfortable to sleep on their sides. Both have experienced frequent sinking in their hips and shoulders, creating pressure points that may lead to minor concurrent pains. As heavier individuals may find the DreamCloud Hybrid to be soft under their weight, those who are lesser than 130 pounds may find it a little bit firmer sometimes to be able to sleep properly. Our lightweight volunteer can attest to this: when she tried to rest strictly on one side for a prolonged period, she felt as if the top layers were too firm at times, but when it came to sleeping with her sides interchanged, it turned out to be decently comfortable. As our volunteers were having a ball with testing the DreamCloud Hybrid’s firmness, we also managed to examine how well it fared in terms of pain relief. We set up a pressure map over the mattress and asked our volunteers to lie on their stomachs, backs, and sides to determine if there was any pressure difference.
Based on what we observed, it’s clear at this point that the DreamCloud Hybrid could create excellent pressure relief along the back for most sleeper groups. Except for the folks who weigh more than 300 lbs, most sleepers may be able to find comfort and relaxation on the spot – the bed’s layers, including the memory foam, are enough to support their weight equally and contour their silhouette very well, resulting in low pressure across the board. Minimal pressure points produced when a body meets the mattress means there’s less chance of back pains – this is great news for people with constant back issues, especially senior citizens.
The DreamCloud Hybrid will produce some pressure points in the stomach area, especially along the hips. While light-weight sleepers and those who are average may be able rest comfortably without worrying about pent up pressure, heavy-weight sleepers, particularly those with 300-pound structures, might need to be cautious as excessive sinking could lead to increased pressure points. We found significant pressure points for most body types when it came to side sleep. It doesn’t matter what your weight, side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid will cause discomfort. The problem is worse for those who are heavier. Lighter sleepers, for instance, may not enjoy the feel of the mattress in this position for long periods, while heavy-weighted ones may not like it equally as they tend to sink into it more to the point where they feel pain in their shoulders and hips. Temperature Control

Motion Transfer
Considering what it’s made of and how it functions, the DreamCloud mattress may not fully absorb a person’s motions, but it does a decent job, regardless. When we had two of our volunteers test it out for motion transfer, we first noticed that one of them wasn’t able to feel another’s changing movements as much until they got more intense. It caused little to no disturbance with small movements.
Similar to most luxury hybrid beds, the DreamCloud Hybrid’s motion isolation capabilities are fairly bearable. This model is not recommended for light sleepers with a restless partner.
Edge Support
The DreamCloud Hybrid is said to provide great edge support with the help of reinforced steel coils around the perimeter/edges, but how accurate is this claim? We tested it by having volunteers lie on the edges of the bed and we found that the claim was mostly accurate. If a mattress has exceptional edge support, sleepers may likely take advantage of its surface without the imminent fear of sinking or falling off it.
Our volunteers can attest that the DreamCloud bed’s edges are able to support them well. However, our heavyweight rep stated otherwise. Those who weigh more than 230 lbs may not find this bed as supportive.
Noise
Beds with innerspring coils as their foundation are notorious for making significant squeaking noises, especially coming to terms with intense movement. The same sort of applies to a couple of hybrid beds with springs sandwiched in between layers of foam.

Unboxing and Off-Gassing the DreamCloud
The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress comes packed neatly and compressed in a box. How heavy it is will entirely depend on the size you may prefer, with the lightest being the twin and the heaviest the King and Cal King. When we unboxed the Queen-sized version to be used for our tests, we noticed that some of our teammates find it quite heavy to carry it alone, so from that point onwards we needed an extra person to help ease the burden.
Apart from the mattress, other contents inside the box include a handy booklet for instructions and a free pocket knife that you may use to open it up from the plastic packaging – that is, especially if you don’t have one of your own. Once you roll it out from the box onto the bed frame where you’ll place it and it’s free from any form of packaging, you will need to wait between 24-48 hours until it’s fully decompressed.
