We sent in four volunteers – each from three different weight groups – to sleep on the DreamCloud Hybrid in different sleeping positions on a two-week venture. Two of them represent the lightweight (130 lbs below) and heavyweight (230 lbs above) sleepers, respectively, while the rest of the team represents the average group (130-230 lbs), although one weighs 155 lbs and the other is close to 225 lbs.
Based on the data we collected over the past 14 days, it seems that most could agree that this mattress has the potential to accommodate a sizable range of positions and body weights but not exactly all of them. If we could rank the DreamCloud Hybrid, we’d give it a solid 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale – medium firm, for sure. It’s plush enough to be comfortable, yet supportive enough to contour the body even in different positions. It’s also worth noting that the mattress was comfortable for two of the three volunteers immediately upon contact. The other took them several days to adjust.
How Does It Feel in Different Sleeping Positions?
Flat Back Sleeping
We’ve found the DreamCloud Hybrid to be a great bed for back sleepers of all weight types. According to what we have gathered from volunteers, there was no issue with the firmness of the DreamCloud Hybrid. Its construction is flexible enough to support the spine and provide adequate support. Lightweight sleepers may enjoy this one – not only should they feel supported enough, but its top layers should also give them the feeling of being able to lie on top as comfortably as possible.
Average-weighted individuals may like the DreamCloud Hybrid best as it should give them the perfect balance of relief and hold. Their hips, in particular, should sink into the mattress very nicely while the coils underneath support them. Heavyweight sleepers should also feel the same to some extent, but those who weigh around 300lbs or more may not find it suitable since they may sink in too much to the point where pressure is produced. Flat Stomach Sleeping
The DreamCloud mattress can provide exceptional contouring and spine alignment for most back sleepers. However, it is also suitable for side sleepers. There are some notable exceptions. Our average-weighted volunteers had mixed reactions to the mattress. The bed was able to support their bodies and align them well, with our 155-lb volunteer. The top layers of the bed were a little too soft for their 225-pound counterpart, but he was still able to feel a good amount of support.
Heavy folks, particularly those who weigh nearly 300 lbs, may find the DreamCloud Hybrid to be too soft for their liking. The representative of that group said her hips were sinking into her mattress when she lay on her stomach. It was so uncomfortable she couldn’t sleep in this position. While it seems that stomach sleepers who weigh more than average may find issues with this mattress, lightweight individuals may reap the benefits of relief better than other denominations. Considering their build, their hips won’t be able to sink in as much, so they should feel as comfortable on their stomachs as with their backs.

Side Sleeping
Side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid is more common for those who are average in weight than the others. For folks who weigh between 130-190 lbs, they may receive an ample amount of contouring support, and the pressure along the hips and shoulders won’t be as much so they should be good. Our volunteer of 155 lbs found that the experience was worth it as they were able rest well, regardless of whether they switched sides or stayed on one side. For those who weigh 190 lbs onwards, it’s a different story.
Both our heavyweight and 225-lb reps have expressed that the mattress was a bit uncomfortable to sleep on sideways. Both have experienced frequent sinking in their hips and shoulders, creating pressure points that may lead to minor concurrent pains. While heavier people may find the DreamCloud Hybrid soft, those less than 130 pounds may find it more firm to allow them to sleep well. This is what our lightweight volunteer can attest: she found it uncomfortable to sleep on one side for long periods of time, but it was quite comfortable when she switched sides. Minor adjustments can be expected at this rate.
Its Pain Relief Capabilities
While our volunteers had a lot of fun testing the DreamCloud Hybrid’s firmness, it was also possible to assess how effective it is in pain relief. We set up a pressure map over the mattress and asked our volunteers to lie on their stomachs, backs, and sides to determine if there was any pressure difference.
Based on what we observed, it’s clear at this point that the DreamCloud Hybrid could create excellent pressure relief along the back for most sleeper groups. Most people, except for those who are over 300 lbs, will find comfort and relaxation right away. The bed’s layers, which include the memory foam, are sufficient to support their weight and contour their bodies very well. This results in low pressure throughout the entire body. The mattress creates very few pressure points, which means that back pains are less likely to occur. This is especially important for seniors and people who have back problems.
The DreamCloud Hybrid will produce some pressure points in the stomach area, especially along the hips. While light-weight sleepers and those who are average may be able rest comfortably without worrying about pent up pressure, heavy-weight sleepers, particularly those with 300-pound structures, might need to be cautious as excessive sinking could lead to increased pressure points. We found significant pressure points for most body types when it came to side sleep. It doesn’t matter what your weight, side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid will cause discomfort. The problem is worse for those who are heavier. For instance, lighter sleepers may not find the mattress comfortable in this position, while heavier sleepers may feel more pain in their hips and shoulders. The only anomaly here is the group of average-weighted sleepers, but that doesn’t mean they’re completely free from the pressure points the DreamCloud mattress may bring to them.

What exactly is the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress made of? Standing 14 inches tall, the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is packed with noteworthy qualities that help keep the sleeper relaxed and cool throughout the night. Layer 1: Cashmere Blend Cover
Cashmere wool has been historically known for being soft to the touch and luxurious in its feel. DreamCloud incorporated this in the cover for its signature mattress model. Layer 3: Layer of Memory Foam
Memory foam has been well-known for its ability to adapt to the body and provide relief from pressure points. In the case of the DreamCloud Hybrid, it is placed conveniently underneath the quilted top layer. Measuring one inch, it’s appropriate enough to support the sleeper well, but not enough to produce a familiar sinking feeling. Although this material is known for trapping heat well, DreamCloud has incorporated gel infusion to help cool the body.
Layer 4: Polyfoam Transition Layer
Beneath the memory foam is a two-inch firm polyfoam that serves as a transitional layer between the soft part of the mattress and the base foundation of the coils. It serves two purposes: 1) it conforms the body’s posture and shape to the coils; and 2) it keeps it from sinking further into the mattress, which can be very inconvenient.
Layer 5: Innerspring Coils
Speaking of coils, the DreamCloud Hybrid’s very foundation comes in the form of a full system of individually wrapped innerspring coils. Each spring is 8 1/2 inches tall. This contributes to the mattress’s overall height. The coils can be responsive to the sleeper’s changing movements very well. However, the perimeters of the mattress are strategically strengthened with stronger steel to provide better edge support.
Layer 6: Stability Base Layer

Layer 7: Shift-Resistant Lower Cover
To cap it all off is a tufted cover to store all the layers within the DreamCloud Hybrid safely in place. It’s not considered the bed’s main layer, but it serves the sole purpose of protecting the foundation. The mattress’s round borders are embellished with tufted decor. It also has four sides handles that are sewn into the side to make it easy to transport.
What was the DreamCloud’s Performance?
A perfect mattress should be able to adapt to the sleeper’s needs. Other than being able to accommodate their body type and preferred sleeping position, there are other important factors that should be considered. This includes their habits and climate. We were able to perform a number of tests during the two-week test period to determine if the DreamCloud Hybrid is a solid staple in the bedroom.
Temperature Control
The DreamCloud Hybrid promises to be equipped with excellent cooling abilities, and we couldn’t agree more when we checked the temperature of one of our volunteers through a thermal camera scanner. This is all thanks to its mix of temperature-regulating materials embedded within the mattress: the gel-infused memory foam layer, the breathable cashmere cover, and the coils that encourage more air to pass through.
This model is ideal for couples or individuals who live in hot climates.
Motion Transfer
Considering what it’s made of and how it functions, the DreamCloud mattress may not fully absorb a person’s motions, but it does a decent job, regardless. We first noticed that one of our volunteers couldn’t feel the other’s movements changing as much when they became more intense. It caused little to no disturbance with small movements.
Similar to most luxury hybrid beds, the DreamCloud Hybrid’s motion isolation capabilities are fairly bearable. This model is not recommended for light sleepers with a restless partner.
Edge Support
DreamCloud Hybrid claims to offer great edge support thanks to reinforced steel coils placed around the edges and perimeter. But how accurate is that claim? We tested it by having volunteers lie on the edges of the bed and we found that the claim was mostly accurate. If a mattress has exceptional edge support, sleepers may likely take advantage of its surface without the imminent fear of sinking or falling off it.
While most of our volunteers could attest to the DreamCloud bed’s edges being able to support them decently well, our heavyweight rep said otherwise – those who weigh 230 and beyond may not find this bed supportive enough.
Noise
Beds with innerspring coils as their foundation are notorious for making significant squeaking noises, especially coming to terms with intense movement. This is also true for hybrid beds that have springs interspersed between layers of foam.
The DreamCloud Hybrid is an exception – within our two-week testing period, not a single one of our crew noticed any annoying squeaking coming from within the bed. Ease of Movement
Ideally, mattresses made with a wide variety of materials should be able to strike a balance between contouring and ease of movement – the DreamCloud model achieves this by making its memory foam layer complimentary with other foam layers, not outshine them, therefore allowing it to conform the body’s shape like a light hug. Meanwhile, the coil system beneath the comfort layers should respond to movements quite well, resulting in easier navigation throughout the surface.
Our team discovered that the bed was easy to move around. It would be fine if you were to perform motion-intensive activities on it.
Sex
The DreamCloud Hybrid is a motion-intensive bed that we believe has a lot of potential. Folks who engage in sex once in a while may surely enjoy its ability to adapt to their movements swiftly. It makes a noticeable difference in noise, so it is possible to have discreet sex.

Unboxing and Off-Gassing the DreamCloud
The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress comes packed neatly and compressed in a box. The size of the mattress will determine how heavy it is. The twin is the lightest and Cal King and King are the most heavy. We noticed that many of our team members found it too heavy to transport alone when we opened the Queen-sized version for our tests. So, we added an additional person to ease the burden.
Apart from the mattress, other contents inside the box include a handy booklet for instructions and a free pocket knife that you may use to open it up from the plastic packaging – that is, especially if you don’t have one of your own. Once you roll it out from the box onto the bed frame where you’ll place it and it’s free from any form of packaging, you will need to wait between 24-48 hours until it’s fully decompressed. Expect a slight off-putting smell because you will be interacting with a brand new mattress.
Models made from synthetic foam layers are more likely to emit volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), which can be collected during manufacturing. Since the DreamCloud Hybrid’s foam layers are all CertiPUR-US-certified, the amount should be much less. It is important to let it sit out so that the smell can dissipate after a few days. To speed this process up, we suggest that you do so in a well-ventilated environment by opening up all the windows and doors in the room.
