Four volunteers were sent from three weight groups to try out the DreamCloud Hybrid. They were placed in various sleeping positions for a two-week period. Two of them represent the lightweight (130 lbs below) and heavyweight (230 lbs above) sleepers, respectively, while the rest of the team represents the average group (130-230 lbs), although one weighs 155 lbs and the other is close to 225 lbs.
The data collected over the last 14 days suggests that the majority of people could agree that the mattress can accommodate a wide range of body weights and positions. However, not all. We would give the DreamCloud Hybrid a solid 7/10 on the firmness scale, which is medium firm. It’s plush enough to be comfortable, yet supportive enough to contour the body even in different positions. Plus, it’s worth noting that two of the three volunteers found the mattress to receive comfort instantly upon contact, while the other admittedly took them a few days to adjust.
How Does It Feel in Different Sleeping Positions?
Flat Back Sleeping
The DreamCloud Hybrid is a great choice for back sleepers of any weight. According to what we have gathered from volunteers, there was no issue with the firmness of the DreamCloud Hybrid. Its construction is flexible enough to support the spine and provide adequate support. Lightweight sleepers may enjoy this one – not only should they feel supported enough, but its top layers should also give them the feeling of being able to lie on top as comfortably as possible.
The DreamCloud Hybrid may be the best choice for average-weighted people. It should provide them with the right balance of support and relief. Their hips, in particular, should sink into the mattress very nicely while the coils underneath support them. Flat Stomach Sleeping
While the DreamCloud mattress may provide most back sleepers with exceptional contouring and spinal alignment, the same can apply to side sleepers, though there are a few notable exceptions. Reactions are mixed for our average-weighted sleepers – our 155-lb volunteer found the bed to be able to support and align their body quite well. The top layers of the bed were a little too soft for their 225-pound counterpart, but he was still able to feel a good amount of support.
The DreamCloud Hybrid may be too soft for heavy people, especially those over 300 lbs. The representative of that group said her hips were sinking into her mattress when she lay on her stomach. It was so uncomfortable she couldn’t sleep in this position. Although stomach sleepers with higher than average weights may have issues with the mattress, lighter people may be able to reap the benefits of this mattress better than others. Side Sleeping
Among the three weight groups, those of average weight are more likely to gain an upper hand when it comes to side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid. For folks who weigh between 130-190 lbs, they may receive an ample amount of contouring support, and the pressure along the hips and shoulders won’t be as much so they should be good. According to our 155-lb volunteer, the experience was worthwhile as they were able to rest well regardless if they switch to either side or stick to one. For those who weigh 190 lbs onwards, it’s a different story.
Our heavyweight and 225-lb reps both felt that the mattress was uncomfortable to sleep on their sides. Both have experienced frequent sinking in their hips and shoulders, creating pressure points that may lead to minor concurrent pains. While heavier people may find the DreamCloud Hybrid soft, those less than 130 pounds may find it more firm to allow them to sleep well. This is what our lightweight volunteer can attest: she found it uncomfortable to sleep on one side for long periods of time, but it was quite comfortable when she switched sides. Examining its Pain Relief Capabilities
While our volunteers had a lot of fun testing the DreamCloud Hybrid’s firmness, it was also possible to assess how effective it is in pain relief. We set up a pressure map over the mattress and asked our volunteers to lie on their stomachs, backs, and sides to determine if there was any pressure difference.
We believe that the DreamCloud Hybrid can provide excellent pressure relief for most sleepers. Most people, except for those who are over 300 lbs, will find comfort and relaxation right away. The bed’s layers, which include the memory foam, are sufficient to support their weight and contour their bodies very well. This results in low pressure throughout the entire body. In terms of sleeping on the stomach, expect the DreamCloud Hybrid to produce a decent yet everchanging share of pressure points, particularly along the hips. The problem is worse for those who are heavier. Although it’s not considered a layer that makes up the bed per se, it’s built for the sole purpose to secure the foundation that holds it. Its rounded borders are adorned with tufted decor to make the mattress appear luxurious, while its four side handles, with two on each side, are sewn in to make transporting it easier and hassle-less.
How Well Did the DreamCloud Perform?
A perfect mattress should be able to adapt to the sleeper’s needs. Temperature Control
The DreamCloud Hybrid promises to be equipped with excellent cooling abilities, and we couldn’t agree more when we checked the temperature of one of our volunteers through a thermal camera scanner. Motion Transfer
The DreamCloud mattress is made from a combination of materials and functions. It may not absorb all motions but it does a good job. We first noticed that one of our volunteers couldn’t feel the other’s movements changing as much when they became more intense. Similar to most luxury hybrid beds, the DreamCloud Hybrid’s motion isolation capabilities are fairly bearable. This model is not recommended for light sleepers with a restless partner.

When we checked it out by letting out volunteers sit and lie along the edges of the bed, we then found out that it was mostly true, though not entirely. A mattress with exceptional edge support may allow sleepers to take advantage of the surface without fear of falling or sinking.
Our volunteers can attest that the DreamCloud bed’s edges are able to support them well. However, our heavyweight rep stated otherwise. Those who weigh more than 230 lbs may not find this bed as supportive.
Noise
Innerspring coil beds are known for making loud squeaking sounds, particularly when they’re dealing with intense movement. This is also true for hybrid beds that have springs interspersed between layers of foam.

Unboxing and off-gassing the DreamCloud
The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is neatly packed and sealed in a box. The size of the mattress will determine how heavy it is. The twin is the lightest and Cal King and King are the most heavy. When we unboxed the Queen-sized version to be used for our tests, we noticed that some of our teammates find it quite heavy to carry it alone, so from that point onwards we needed an extra person to help ease the burden.
Other than the mattress, the box also contains a booklet with instructions and a pocket knife. This is especially useful if you don’t already have one. After you have rolled it out of the box onto your bed frame, it will be fully compressed. You should wait between 24-48 hours. Expect a slight off-putting smell because you will be interacting with a brand new mattress.
Models made from synthetic foam layers are more likely to emit volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), which can be collected during manufacturing. Since the DreamCloud Hybrid’s foam layers are all CertiPUR-US-certified, the amount should be much less.
