Four volunteers were sent from three weight groups to try out the DreamCloud Hybrid. They were placed in various sleeping positions for a two-week period. Two of them represent the lightweight (130 lbs below) and heavyweight (230 lbs above) sleepers, respectively, while the rest of the team represents the average group (130-230 lbs), although one weighs 155 lbs and the other is close to 225 lbs.
The data collected over the last 14 days suggests that the majority of people could agree that the mattress can accommodate a wide range of body weights and positions. However, not all. If we could rank the DreamCloud Hybrid, we’d give it a solid 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale – medium firm, for sure. It is soft enough to feel comfortable and supportive enough to mold to the body in different positions. It’s also worth noting that the mattress was comfortable for two of the three volunteers immediately upon contact. The other took them several days to adjust.
What does it feel like to sleep in different positions?
Flat Back Sleeping
The DreamCloud Hybrid is a great choice for back sleepers of any weight. Based on what we know so far from our volunteers, no one seemed to have any issue with its firmness given that its construction is versatile enough to support the back well and keep the spine properly aligned. Lightweight sleepers may enjoy this one – not only should they feel supported enough, but its top layers should also give them the feeling of being able to lie on top as comfortably as possible.
The DreamCloud Hybrid may be the best choice for average-weighted people. It should provide them with the right balance of support and relief. Their hips, in particular, should sink into the mattress very nicely while the coils underneath support them. Flat Stomach Sleeping
The DreamCloud mattress can provide exceptional contouring and spine alignment for most back sleepers. However, it is also suitable for side sleepers. There are some notable exceptions. Our average-weighted volunteers had mixed reactions to the mattress. The bed was able to support their bodies and align them well, with our 155-lb volunteer. The top layers of the bed were a little too soft for their 225-pound counterpart, but he was still able to feel a good amount of support.
Heavy folks, particularly those who weigh nearly 300 lbs, may find the DreamCloud Hybrid to be too soft for their liking. Our representative from that group told us her hips were sinking into the mattress often whenever she laid on her stomach, and it reached the point where she found it a bit uncomfortable to sleep in this position. While it seems that stomach sleepers who weigh more than average may find issues with this mattress, lightweight individuals may reap the benefits of relief better than other denominations. Side sleeping
Side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid is more common for those who are average in weight than the others. People who weigh 130-190 lbs may find the DreamCloud Hybrid contouring support to be sufficient. However, the pressure on the hips, shoulders, and hips won’t be as intense as they should. Our volunteer of 155 lbs found that the experience was worth it as they were able rest well, regardless of whether they switched sides or stayed on one side. It’s different for those who are 190 or more.
Both our heavyweight and 225-lb reps have expressed that the mattress was a bit uncomfortable to sleep on sideways. Both experienced a lot of sinking in their hips, shoulders and hips. This can lead to pressure points that could cause minor concurrent pains. As heavier individuals may find the DreamCloud Hybrid to be soft under their weight, those who are lesser than 130 pounds may find it a little bit firmer sometimes to be able to sleep properly. This is what our lightweight volunteer can attest: she found it uncomfortable to sleep on one side for long periods of time, but it was quite comfortable when she switched sides. To do this, we set up a pressure map on top of the mattress, and, once that was done, we asked the four volunteers to lay on the back, stomach, and both sides of their bodies to see if there was any significant pressure difference that we could spot right away.
Based on what we observed, it’s clear at this point that the DreamCloud Hybrid could create excellent pressure relief along the back for most sleeper groups. Most people, except for those who are over 300 lbs, will find comfort and relaxation right away. The bed’s layers, which include the memory foam, are sufficient to support their weight and contour their bodies very well. This results in low pressure throughout the entire body. Minimal pressure points produced when a body meets the mattress means there’s less chance of back pains – this is great news for people with constant back issues, especially senior citizens.
In terms of sleeping on the stomach, expect the DreamCloud Hybrid to produce a decent yet everchanging share of pressure points, particularly along the hips. Lightweight and average sleepers may be able to rest soundly without the imminent fear of pent-up pressure, but heavyweight ones, especially those whose structure is adjacent to 300lbs, may need to watch out as too much sinking may lead to an increase in pressure points. When it came to side sleeping, we spotted some significant pressure points on most body types. No matter how much you weigh, it’s likely that laying sideways on the surface of the DreamCloud Hybrid may make you prone to varying degrees of discomfort, and it gets much worse if you’re heavier. Lighter sleepers, for instance, may not enjoy the feel of the mattress in this position for long periods, while heavy-weighted ones may not like it equally as they tend to sink into it more to the point where they feel pain in their shoulders and hips. Although it’s not considered a layer that makes up the bed per se, it’s built for the sole purpose to secure the foundation that holds it. Its rounded borders are adorned with tufted decor to make the mattress appear luxurious, while its four side handles, with two on each side, are sewn in to make transporting it easier and hassle-less.
How Well Did the DreamCloud Perform?
The perfect mattress should adapt to the individual’s needs. Other than being able to accommodate their body type and preferred sleeping position, there are other important factors that should be considered. This includes their habits and climate. We were able to perform a number of tests during the two-week test period to determine if the DreamCloud Hybrid is a solid staple in the bedroom.
Temperature Control
The DreamCloud Hybrid is said to have excellent cooling capabilities. We were pleasantly surprised when one of our volunteers was tested by a thermal scanner. This is all thanks to its mix of temperature-regulating materials embedded within the mattress: the gel-infused memory foam layer, the breathable cashmere cover, and the coils that encourage more air to pass through.
Individuals living in hot climates or couples may look for a bed that doesn’t trap too much heat for them to end up uncomfortable, and this model could be their best bet.
Motion Transfer
The DreamCloud mattress is made from a combination of materials and functions. It may not absorb all motions but it does a good job. We first noticed that one of our volunteers couldn’t feel the other’s movements changing as much when they became more intense. When it came to small movements, it resulted in a lesser to no sign of disturbance.

Edge Support

Unboxing and off-gassing the DreamCloud
The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is neatly packed and sealed in a box. How heavy it is will entirely depend on the size you may prefer, with the lightest being the twin and the heaviest the King and Cal King. When we unboxed the Queen-sized version to be used for our tests, we noticed that some of our teammates find it quite heavy to carry it alone, so from that point onwards we needed an extra person to help ease the burden.
Other than the mattress, the box also contains a booklet with instructions and a pocket knife. This is especially useful if you don’t already have one. After you have rolled it out of the box onto your bed frame, it will be fully compressed. You should wait between 24-48 hours. Expect a slight off-putting smell because you will be interacting with a brand new mattress.
Models made of synthetic foam layers tend to emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) collected from manufacturing.
