We sent in four volunteers – each from three different weight groups – to sleep on the DreamCloud Hybrid in different sleeping positions on a two-week venture. The two lightweight (130 lbs below), and the heavyweight (230lbs above) sleepers are represented by the other two volunteers. The rest of the team represents the average group, 130-230 lbs, although one is only 155 lbs while the other is closer to 225.
Based on the data we collected over the past 14 days, it seems that most could agree that this mattress has the potential to accommodate a sizable range of positions and body weights but not exactly all of them. We would give the DreamCloud Hybrid a solid 7/10 on the firmness scale, which is medium firm. It is soft enough to feel comfortable and supportive enough to mold to the body in different positions. Plus, it’s worth noting that two of the three volunteers found the mattress to receive comfort instantly upon contact, while the other admittedly took them a few days to adjust.
What does it feel like to sleep in different positions?
Flat Back Sleeping
We’ve found the DreamCloud Hybrid to be a great bed for back sleepers of all weight types. Based on what we know so far from our volunteers, no one seemed to have any issue with its firmness given that its construction is versatile enough to support the back well and keep the spine properly aligned. Lightweight sleepers may enjoy this one – not only should they feel supported enough, but its top layers should also give them the feeling of being able to lie on top as comfortably as possible.
The DreamCloud Hybrid may be the best choice for average-weighted people. It should provide them with the right balance of support and relief. The coils beneath the mattress should support their hips and sink into the mattress. It should feel similar to heavy sleepers, although those who are 300lbs or more might not feel it. Flat Stomach Sleeping
While the DreamCloud mattress may provide most back sleepers with exceptional contouring and spinal alignment, the same can apply to side sleepers, though there are a few notable exceptions. Our average-weighted volunteers had mixed reactions to the mattress. The bed was able to support their bodies and align them well, with our 155-lb volunteer. Their 225-lb counterpart observed its top layers to be a bit soft under his hips but was able to experience a decent amount of support and comfort.
Heavy folks, particularly those who weigh nearly 300 lbs, may find the DreamCloud Hybrid to be too soft for their liking. Our representative from that group told us her hips were sinking into the mattress often whenever she laid on her stomach, and it reached the point where she found it a bit uncomfortable to sleep in this position. Although stomach sleepers with higher than average weights may have issues with the mattress, lighter people may be able to reap the benefits of this mattress better than others. Side sleeping
Among the three weight groups, those of average weight are more likely to gain an upper hand when it comes to side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid. For folks who weigh between 130-190 lbs, they may receive an ample amount of contouring support, and the pressure along the hips and shoulders won’t be as much so they should be good. Our volunteer of 155 lbs found that the experience was worth it as they were able rest well, regardless of whether they switched sides or stayed on one side. It’s different for those who are 190 or more.
Our heavyweight and 225-lb reps both felt that the mattress was uncomfortable to sleep on their sides. Both experienced a lot of sinking in their hips, shoulders and hips. This can lead to pressure points that could cause minor concurrent pains. While heavier people may find the DreamCloud Hybrid soft, those less than 130 pounds may find it more firm to allow them to sleep well. Our lightweight volunteer can attest to this: when she tried to rest strictly on one side for a prolonged period, she felt as if the top layers were too firm at times, but when it came to sleeping with her sides interchanged, it turned out to be decently comfortable. As our volunteers were having a ball with testing the DreamCloud Hybrid’s firmness, we also managed to examine how well it fared in terms of pain relief. We set up a pressure map over the mattress and asked our volunteers to lie on their stomachs, backs, and sides to determine if there was any pressure difference.
We believe that the DreamCloud Hybrid can provide excellent pressure relief for most sleepers. Except for the folks who weigh more than 300 lbs, most sleepers may be able to find comfort and relaxation on the spot – the bed’s layers, including the memory foam, are enough to support their weight equally and contour their silhouette very well, resulting in low pressure across the board. In terms of sleeping on the stomach, expect the DreamCloud Hybrid to produce a decent yet everchanging share of pressure points, particularly along the hips. Lightweight and average sleepers may be able to rest soundly without the imminent fear of pent-up pressure, but heavyweight ones, especially those whose structure is adjacent to 300lbs, may need to watch out as too much sinking may lead to an increase in pressure points. When it came to side sleeping, we spotted some significant pressure points on most body types. It doesn’t matter what your weight, side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid will cause discomfort. The problem is worse for those who are heavier. Lighter sleepers, for instance, may not enjoy the feel of the mattress in this position for long periods, while heavy-weighted ones may not like it equally as they tend to sink into it more to the point where they feel pain in their shoulders and hips. How Well Did the DreamCloud Perform?

We were able to perform a number of tests during the two-week test period to determine if the DreamCloud Hybrid is a solid staple in the bedroom.
Temperature Control
The DreamCloud Hybrid promises to be equipped with excellent cooling abilities, and we couldn’t agree more when we checked the temperature of one of our volunteers through a thermal camera scanner. This is all thanks to its mix of temperature-regulating materials embedded within the mattress: the gel-infused memory foam layer, the breathable cashmere cover, and the coils that encourage more air to pass through.
Individuals living in hot climates or couples may look for a bed that doesn’t trap too much heat for them to end up uncomfortable, and this model could be their best bet.
Motion Transfer
The DreamCloud mattress is made from a combination of materials and functions. It may not absorb all motions but it does a good job. When we had two of our volunteers test it out for motion transfer, we first noticed that one of them wasn’t able to feel another’s changing movements as much until they got more intense. It caused little to no disturbance with small movements.
The DreamCloud Hybrid’s motion isolation capabilities make it comparable to luxury hybrid beds. Average persons may willingly look past it, but as for any light sleeper with an often restless partner beside them, this model may not be an ideal choice.

Noise
Innerspring coil beds are known for making loud squeaking sounds, particularly when they’re dealing with intense movement. This is also true for hybrid beds that have springs interspersed between layers of foam.

Unboxing and Off-Gassing the DreamCloud
The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is neatly packed and sealed in a box. How heavy it is will entirely depend on the size you may prefer, with the lightest being the twin and the heaviest the King and Cal King. We noticed that many of our team members found it too heavy to transport alone when we opened the Queen-sized version for our tests. So, we added an additional person to ease the burden.
Other than the mattress, the box also contains a booklet with instructions and a pocket knife. This is especially useful if you don’t already have one. Once you roll it out from the box onto the bed frame where you’ll place it and it’s free from any form of packaging, you will need to wait between 24-48 hours until it’s fully decompressed. Since you’re going to encounter a fresh new mattress in front of you, expect it to emit a slightly off-putting odor.
Models made from synthetic foam layers are more likely to emit volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), which can be collected during manufacturing. Since the DreamCloud Hybrid’s foam layers are all CertiPUR-US-certified, the amount should be much less. It is important to let it sit out so that the smell can dissipate after a few days.
