A Closer Look into the DreamCloud Illness From Dreamcloud Mattress

The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is a standout among luxury hybrid beds. While it’s built from the same quality of materials as anyone else, it’s priced comparatively less. Although it is listed as being in the medium firm range, its comfort level is slightly more firm than average. It’s practically within the range an average person may look forward to sleeping on, but it could also be a concern for those who may not be built for that.

The DreamCloud Hybrid has a profile of 14 inches. This hybrid design allows for more comfort and support. And, considering its overall construction which we’ll tackle later on, it allows folks with limited budgets to switch to a newer, better model from the old, worn-out one.

The DreamCloud Hybrid is the flagship product of DreamCloud, a US-based sleep specialist brand that provides its customers with a luxury-grade yet valuable bedroom experience. Apart from offering them a wide variety of bedding sets, pillows, and bed frames with a lot of designs to choose from, the firm also sells two more premium mattresses, the DreamCloud Premier and the DreamCloud Premium Rest.

While we will be focusing on the DreamCloud entry-level model, it is worth noting that both models are made from more expensive materials, which increases their price and comfort. This is not meant to discourage you from getting the Original model, by the way, as we’re also going to prove later on in this review that it can achieve close to the same luxurious feel as the other two mattresses at a more budget-friendly cost.

What does the general public think about DreamCloud?

As of this writing, the DreamCloud mattress and its sister models have received over 10,000 reviews. Many of these reviews are extremely positive. They range from how great it was to get a good night’s sleep to how much it is worth the price.

It may be unique enough to win hearts, but we can’t ignore the criticisms it has faced. Some sleepers have expressed dissatisfaction with the DreamCloud Hybrid, claiming it was too soft and too firm. Some even shared their experience of suffering from back/neck/hip pain from sleeping on it alone.

Any reaction that comes from using this product for a long period may yield mixed results since these can vary from person to person. How much a sleeper weighs, how old they are, which climate they live in, and what type of position they prefer whenever they rest are among the major factors that will contribute to what they ultimately feel about this product. We cannot guarantee that the DreamCloud Hybrid will suit every sleep type. However, what we are sure of is that it may be an ideal choice for many who just want overall comfort in their sleep.

Who Should Use the DreamCloud?

  • Strict back sleepers – This mattress is exceptional in its ability to provide ample comfort, spinal alignment, and much-needed pressure relief, especially for those who may have varying signs of back pain
  • People who prefer sleeping on a medium yet firmer mattress
  • Hot sleepers – The DreamCloud Hybrid is strategically designed with air pockets and gel infusion, a powerful combination that will keep you cool all night.
  • People who are interested in upgrading to a luxury mattress at an affordable price
  • Active couples or partners – Those with their partners may enjoy this model’s impressive ease of movement, and this can be used to their advantage should they decide to do anything on the bed
  • Senior citizens – A majority of this age group may suffer varying degrees of chronic pain, especially back pain, and the DreamCloud Hybrid may be their best bet in serving their needs

Is there anyone who wouldn’t like this mattress?

  • Strict side sleepers – Some lightweight sleepers may find the bed’s surface a bit firmer to lay on, while heavier folks are more prone to sinking, therefore causing intense pressure points to form
  • Heavyweight sleepers – Although this mattress might be able to support most body types, it may not have enough weight to support the heavier individuals.
  • Folks who prefer a mattress with memory foam – The DreamCloud mattress may have a memory foam layer, but it may not provide what memory foam fans are exactly looking for: a soft, sinking feeling they get when they lie in bed

Testing the DreamCloud’s Firmness and Feel

Firmness is one of the very first things you may need to check if you’re looking for a new mattress. It can make it easy to decide whether it is too firm or soft, or whether you are tempted to buy it. Although the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress claims a comfort level of 6.5/10 on the firmness scale for its mattress, how accurate is that claim? We tested the mattress’ overall firmness and felt to find out if DreamCloud is a true brand with its flagship mattress. Illness From Dreamcloud Mattress

We sent in four volunteers – each from three different weight groups – to sleep on the DreamCloud Hybrid in different sleeping positions on a two-week venture. The two lightweight (130 lbs below), and the heavyweight (230lbs above) sleepers are represented by the other two volunteers. The rest of the team represents the average group, 130-230 lbs, although one is only 155 lbs while the other is closer to 225.

Based on the data we collected over the past 14 days, it seems that most could agree that this mattress has the potential to accommodate a sizable range of positions and body weights but not exactly all of them. If we could rank the DreamCloud Hybrid, we’d give it a solid 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale – medium firm, for sure. It is soft enough to feel comfortable and supportive enough to mold to the body in different positions. It’s also worth noting that the mattress was comfortable for two of the three volunteers immediately upon contact. The other took them several days to adjust.

What does it feel like to sleep in different positions?

Flat Back Sleeping

The DreamCloud Hybrid is a great choice for back sleepers of any weight. According to what we have gathered from volunteers, there was no issue with the firmness of the DreamCloud Hybrid. Its construction is flexible enough to support the spine and provide adequate support. Lightweight sleepers may enjoy this one – not only should they feel supported enough, but its top layers should also give them the feeling of being able to lie on top as comfortably as possible.

The DreamCloud Hybrid may be the best choice for average-weighted people. It should provide them with the right balance of support and relief. The coils beneath the mattress should support their hips and sink into the mattress. Heavyweight sleepers should also feel the same to some extent, but those who weigh around 300lbs or more may not find it suitable since they may sink in too much to the point where pressure is produced. Illness From Dreamcloud Mattress

Flat Stomach Sleeping

The DreamCloud mattress can provide exceptional contouring and spine alignment for most back sleepers. However, it is also suitable for side sleepers. There are some notable exceptions. Reactions are mixed for our average-weighted sleepers – our 155-lb volunteer found the bed to be able to support and align their body quite well. The top layers of the bed were a little too soft for their 225-pound counterpart, but he was still able to feel a good amount of support.

The DreamCloud Hybrid may be too soft for heavy people, especially those over 300 lbs. Our representative from that group told us her hips were sinking into the mattress often whenever she laid on her stomach, and it reached the point where she found it a bit uncomfortable to sleep in this position. Although stomach sleepers with higher than average weights may have issues with the mattress, lighter people may be able to reap the benefits of this mattress better than others. Considering their build, their hips won’t be able to sink in as much, so they should feel as comfortable on their stomachs as with their backs.

Side sleeping

Side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid is more common for those who are average in weight than the others. For folks who weigh between 130-190 lbs, they may receive an ample amount of contouring support, and the pressure along the hips and shoulders won’t be as much so they should be good. According to our 155-lb volunteer, the experience was worthwhile as they were able to rest well regardless if they switch to either side or stick to one. For those who weigh 190 lbs onwards, it’s a different story.

Our heavyweight and 225-lb reps both felt that the mattress was uncomfortable to sleep on their sides. Both experienced a lot of sinking in their hips, shoulders and hips. This can lead to pressure points that could cause minor concurrent pains. As heavier individuals may find the DreamCloud Hybrid to be soft under their weight, those who are lesser than 130 pounds may find it a little bit firmer sometimes to be able to sleep properly. This is what our lightweight volunteer can attest: she found it uncomfortable to sleep on one side for long periods of time, but it was quite comfortable when she switched sides. At this rate, minor adjustments are more likely expected.

Its Pain Relief Capabilities

As our volunteers were having a ball with testing the DreamCloud Hybrid’s firmness, we also managed to examine how well it fared in terms of pain relief. To do this, we set up a pressure map on top of the mattress, and, once that was done, we asked the four volunteers to lay on the back, stomach, and both sides of their bodies to see if there was any significant pressure difference that we could spot right away.

We believe that the DreamCloud Hybrid can provide excellent pressure relief for most sleepers. Most people, except for those who are over 300 lbs, will find comfort and relaxation right away. The bed’s layers, which include the memory foam, are sufficient to support their weight and contour their bodies very well. This results in low pressure throughout the entire body. Minimal pressure points produced when a body meets the mattress means there’s less chance of back pains – this is great news for people with constant back issues, especially senior citizens.

The DreamCloud Hybrid will produce some pressure points in the stomach area, especially along the hips. While light-weight sleepers and those who are average may be able rest comfortably without worrying about pent up pressure, heavy-weight sleepers, particularly those with 300-pound structures, might need to be cautious as excessive sinking could lead to increased pressure points. Illness From Dreamcloud Mattress

When it came to side sleeping, we spotted some significant pressure points on most body types. No matter how much you weigh, it’s likely that laying sideways on the surface of the DreamCloud Hybrid may make you prone to varying degrees of discomfort, and it gets much worse if you’re heavier. For instance, lighter sleepers may not find the mattress comfortable in this position, while heavier sleepers may feel more pain in their hips and shoulders. This is where the DreamCloud mattress can be a little bit of a problem.

How to Dismantle Its Construction

What is the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress exactly made of? The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress measures 14 inches in height. It is filled with notable qualities that keep you cool and relaxed throughout the night. It’s equipped with exceptional cooling capabilities to keep the body cool and prevent heat buildup, making it a top-performing hybrid model.

Built using high-quality CertiPUR-US-certified foam layers of varying firmnesses with a thin tier of memory foam in between, it’s also backed with a set of strong innerspring coils to hold the body together. Let’s look at the DreamCloud mattress’s construction.

Layer 1: Cashmere Blend Cover

Cashmere wool is known for its soft touch and luxurious feel. It’s for this reason that DreamCloud chose to incorporate this into the cover of its signature mattress model. Splayed across the surface, its cloud-patterned quilt design is enough to invite the person to lie on the bed freely. The material is breathable and has excellent temperature-regulating characteristics to help cool the sleeper at night.

Layer 2: Contouring Soft foam

The mattress cover is quilted so you won’t be able to guess what material it is. Quilted under the cashmere-blend cover, lays a supportive plush soft polyfoam designed to provide ample cushioning and support around the body’s weight. This layer, which is 1 1/2 inches in thickness, gives off a pillow-top feeling that most users will likely feel upon touching the bed.

Layer 3: Memory Foam Layer

Memory foam has been well-known for its ability to adapt to the body and provide relief from pressure points. In the case of the DreamCloud Hybrid, it is placed conveniently underneath the quilted top layer. Measuring one inch, it’s appropriate enough to support the sleeper well, but not enough to produce a familiar sinking feeling. Although this material is known for trapping heat well, DreamCloud has incorporated gel infusion to help cool the body.

Layer 4: Polyfoam Transition Layer

A two-inch thick layer of firm polyfoam is found beneath the memory foam. It acts as a transitional layer between soft mattress and base foundation. It serves two purposes: 1) it conforms the body’s posture and shape to the coils; and 2) it keeps it from sinking further into the mattress, which can be very inconvenient.

Layer 5: Innerspring Coils

Speaking of coils, the DreamCloud Hybrid’s very foundation comes in the form of a full system of individually wrapped innerspring coils. Contributing to the total height of the mattress at just 8 1/2 inches, each spring is enrobed with a breathable fiber – this way, it should help maximize the bed’s cooling capabilities, letting more air in and more heat from the body out. While most of the coils can respond to the sleeper’s ever-changing movements well, the perimeters are designed to be strategically fortified using stronger steel, effectively making way for better edge support.

Layer 6: Stability Base Layer

A thick layer of standard high-density foam is found beneath the coil set. Since it serves as part of the foundation that holds the mattress together, it comes as solid and sturdy enough to secure the springs from moving too much, yet also thin enough to allow Illness From Dreamcloud Mattress

They will bounce back. It won’t feel as if it were there, but you will be able to appreciate the fact that it is there to prevent it from falling apart.

Layer 7: Shift-Resistant Lower Cover

To cap it all off is a tufted cover to store all the layers within the DreamCloud Hybrid safely in place. Although it’s not considered a layer that makes up the bed per se, it’s built for the sole purpose to secure the foundation that holds it. Its rounded borders are adorned with tufted decor to make the mattress appear luxurious, while its four side handles, with two on each side, are sewn in to make transporting it easier and hassle-less.

How Well Did the DreamCloud Perform?

A perfect mattress should be able to adapt to the sleeper’s needs. Other than being able to accommodate their body type and preferred sleeping position, there are other important factors that should be considered. This includes their habits and climate. Within our two-week testing period, we got to run a series of performance tests to see if the DreamCloud Hybrid has what it takes as an integral staple in the bedroom.

Temperature Control

The DreamCloud Hybrid is said to have excellent cooling capabilities. We were pleasantly surprised when one of our volunteers was tested by a thermal scanner. This is all thanks to its mix of temperature-regulating materials embedded within the mattress: the gel-infused memory foam layer, the breathable cashmere cover, and the coils that encourage more air to pass through.

This model is ideal for couples or individuals who live in hot climates.

Motion Transfer

The DreamCloud mattress is made from a combination of materials and functions. It may not absorb all motions but it does a good job. When we had two of our volunteers test it out for motion transfer, we first noticed that one of them wasn’t able to feel another’s changing movements as much until they got more intense. It caused little to no disturbance with small movements.

Similar to most luxury hybrid beds, the DreamCloud Hybrid’s motion isolation capabilities are fairly bearable. This model is not recommended for light sleepers with a restless partner.

Edge Support

DreamCloud Hybrid claims to offer great edge support thanks to reinforced steel coils placed around the edges and perimeter. But how accurate is that claim? When we checked it out by letting out volunteers sit and lie along the edges of the bed, we then found out that it was mostly true, though not entirely. If a mattress has exceptional edge support, sleepers may likely take advantage of its surface without the imminent fear of sinking or falling off it.

While most of our volunteers could attest to the DreamCloud bed’s edges being able to support them decently well, our heavyweight rep said otherwise – those who weigh 230 and beyond may not find this bed supportive enough.

Noise

Innerspring coil beds are known for making loud squeaking sounds, particularly when they’re dealing with intense movement. This is also true for hybrid beds that have springs interspersed between layers of foam.

The DreamCloud Hybrid is a rare exception. During our two-week test period, no one noticed any annoying squeaking from the bed. It may have been constructed in a way that makes noise, or how the oil is wrapped up. Illness From Dreamcloud Mattress

Mobility made easy

A mattress made from a variety of materials should have the ability to balance contouring and movement. The DreamCloud model does this by making its memory layer compatible with other foam layers. It conforms to the body like a hug. The coil system underneath the comfort layers should be responsive to movement, which will make navigation easier throughout the surface.

As our team tried to move around the bed, we spotted right away that it wasn’t entirely difficult to switch from one side of the surface to another. If you plan to do some motion-intensive activities on the bed, especially, you wouldn’t have any issues with it.

Sex

Speaking of motion-intensive, we see a promising amount of potential in the DreamCloud Hybrid as an ideal bed for sexual activities. People who only engage in sex occasionally may find it beneficial to be able to adjust to their movements quickly. The fact that it makes noticeably less noise than other hybrid beds also makes it likely possible for them to engage discreetly.

The medium-firm mattress may not be suitable for partners who prefer to sleep in one or more positions. Regardless, the DreamCloud mattress fits the bill as one of our best beds for sex. Illness From Dreamcloud Mattress

Durability

The DreamCloud Hybrid is durable, thanks to its high-quality materials, certified foam layers, and other features. Plus, based on some of the reviews about the product that we could find, its overall quality and capabilities may hold up for not just a mere few weeks but months and even years!

How long this durability could last may change depending on the sleeper’s body type, how often they use it, or if they have one or two more persons who lay on its surface. After a two-week test period, we all agreed that the DreamCloud mattress was durable enough to continue providing comfort. We believe it should remain this way for seven to eight more years. Illness From Dreamcloud Mattress

Unboxing and Off-Gassing the DreamCloud

The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is neatly packed and sealed in a box. How heavy it is will entirely depend on the size you may prefer, with the lightest being the twin and the heaviest the King and Cal King. We noticed that many of our team members found it too heavy to transport alone when we opened the Queen-sized version for our tests. So, we added an additional person to ease the burden.

Other than the mattress, the box also contains a booklet with instructions and a pocket knife. This is especially useful if you don’t already have one. After you have rolled it out of the box onto your bed frame, it will be fully compressed. You should wait between 24-48 hours. Expect a slight off-putting smell because you will be interacting with a brand new mattress.

Models made from synthetic foam layers are more likely to emit volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), which can be collected during manufacturing. Since the DreamCloud Hybrid’s foam layers are all CertiPUR-US-certified, the amount should be much less. It is important to let it sit out so that the smell can dissipate after a few days. To speed this process up, we suggest that you do so in a well-ventilated environment by opening up all the windows and doors in the room.

Available Sizes and Pricing

The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is not only a great mattress, but it also has some amazing features. This model sells at an affordable price due to the quality of its foundation and framework, as well as the type of materials it was made.

Plus, if you order it from DreamCloud’s official website, you may get to save plenty of money quite often with seasonal sales and discounts. To make it easier, you will receive a set of bedding including sheets, pillowcases and a mattress protector.

DreamCloud vs. other top mattresses

Want to consider some options? We’ll help you with that! Although the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is the most popular luxury hybrid model on the market, there are two alternatives that offer the same comfort and have unique features that it does not. Let’s take a look at each of them! Illness From Dreamcloud Mattress

DreamCloud vs. Saatva

The Similarities: Much like the DreamCloud Hybrid, the original Saatva Classic mattress is a luxury hybrid bed that’s excellent in providing comfort and relief to the sleeper’s back. It’s also bouncy and responsive to movements, making it easier to navigate across the surface.

The Differences: Saatva is a bit more expensive than the DreamCloud Hybrid thanks partly to its construction – its coil system is more intricate, and the organic cotton-covered Euro pillowtop makes up for a more snug feeling. The former, which has one firmness option, can be adjusted to suit different body types.

DreamCloud vs. Nectar

Similarities: The DreamCloud Hybrid and Nectar Mattress are both delivered in a box. You and your companion will have to put them together. Both are jam-packed with impressive temperature-regulating capabilities, offer year-long sleep trials, and even come from the same parent company, Resident.

The Differences: While the DreamCloud Hybrid is a hybrid bed, Nectar is all-foam, with an extra thick layer of memory foam in between. It can adapt to many sleeping positions, not just the back. Many even find it to be best suited for strict side sleeping.

Our final thoughts: How is the DreamCloud Hybrid mattress holding up so far?

From taking a close look at what it is to fully testing it out for ourselves, it’s evident by now that the DreamCloud Hybrid is brimming with potential as a suitable luxury hybrid mattress for any bedroom and, to some extent, any occasion.

It can support and accommodate most people’s backs. However, it is not able to alleviate pressure points in some areas. Considering the type of materials used and how it’s cleverly constructed, it’s sure to give folks a well-rounded experience that’s open to versatility – and at a surprisingly affordable price range, too!

The DreamCloud Hybrid’s luxuriously crafted medium-firm surface may be inviting for anyone, but not exactly for everyone. We found that the bed does not have enough to hold well for those who weigh as heavy as 300 lbs, more or less. It’s evident that the bed is a welcome staple for couples and single sleepers alike.

Additionally, you have much less to lose if you decide to purchase it. You’ll be given plenty of exclusive discount rates from DreamCloud’s official website, plus exceptionally responsive customer service teams to assist you along the way. For this and all the other good reasons regarding the DreamCloud Hybrid, there’s no doubt that we’re giving it a resounding 4.5/5 stars. It’s definitely worth the effort… and the purchase!
