A Closer Look into the DreamCloud Dream Without Sleep

The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is a standout among luxury hybrid beds. While it’s built from the same quality of materials as anyone else, it’s priced comparatively less. Although it is listed as being in the medium firm range, its comfort level is slightly more firm than average. It’s practically within the range an average person may look forward to sleeping on, but it could also be a concern for those who may not be built for that.

The DreamCloud Hybrid has a profile of 14 inches. This hybrid design allows for more comfort and support. And, considering its overall construction which we’ll tackle later on, it allows folks with limited budgets to switch to a newer, better model from the old, worn-out one.

The DreamCloud Hybrid is the flagship product of DreamCloud, a US-based sleep specialist brand that provides its customers with a luxury-grade yet valuable bedroom experience. Apart from offering them a wide variety of bedding sets, pillows, and bed frames with a lot of designs to choose from, the firm also sells two more premium mattresses, the DreamCloud Premier and the DreamCloud Premium Rest.

Although we’re only going to focus on the entry-level-type DreamCloud here, it’s worth noting that both of those models are made of more expensive material, therefore elevating their comfort levels and price range. We are not going to discourage you from purchasing the Original model. However, we will show later in this review that it can provide the same luxurious feel and cost-effectiveness as the other mattresses.

What does the general public think about DreamCloud?

As of this writing, the DreamCloud mattress and its sister models have received over 10,000 reviews. Many of these reviews are extremely positive. They range from how great it was to get a good night’s sleep to how much it is worth the price.

It may be unique enough to win hearts, but we can’t ignore the criticisms it has faced. The sleepers who say aren’t fully satisfied with the DreamCloud Hybrid have complained about how it was too soft or too firm for their liking. Many shared the pain they felt from not being able to sleep on it.

The product can cause a variety of reactions, which may be mixed depending on how long you use it. The main factors that influence how a person feels about the product are their weight, age, climate, and preference for sleeping position. With that in mind, we can’t fully guarantee that the DreamCloud Hybrid may suit all sleep types. We are certain that the DreamCloud Hybrid may be a good choice for those who want to sleep comfortably.

Who Should Use the DreamCloud?

  • For those with a strict back, this mattress is ideal in providing ample comfort and spinal alignment.
  • People who like to sleep on a firmer, medium-firm mattress
  • Hot sleepers – The DreamCloud Hybrid is strategically designed with air pockets and gel infusion, a powerful combination that will keep you cool all night.
  • People who are interested in upgrading to a luxury mattress at an affordable price
  • Active couples or partners – Those who share the model with their partners can take advantage of its remarkable ease of movement.
  • Senior citizens – A majority of this age group may suffer varying degrees of chronic pain, especially back pain, and the DreamCloud Hybrid may be their best bet in serving their needs

Who Might Not Like This Mattress?

  • Side sleepers who are strict – Lightweight sleepers might find the bed’s surface more comfortable to lie on. Heavy sleepers, however, may sink more easily, causing pressure points to form.
  • Heavyweight sleepers – Although this mattress might be able to support most body types, it may not have enough weight to support the heavier individuals.
  • People who like a mattress with memory foam may prefer the DreamCloud mattress. However, it does not have the soft, sinking feel that memory foam lovers are looking for.

Test the DreamCloud’s Firmness & Feel

Firmness is one of the very first things you may need to check if you’re looking for a new mattress. How firm or how soft it would turn out to be may either make you want to buy one or turn you off from it entirely. The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress’s comfort level may be advertised to be at 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, but how accurate is its claim? We tested the mattress’ overall firmness and felt to find out if DreamCloud is a true brand with its flagship mattress. Dream Without Sleep

Four volunteers were sent from three weight groups to try out the DreamCloud Hybrid. They were placed in various sleeping positions for a two-week period. The two lightweight (130 lbs below), and the heavyweight (230lbs above) sleepers are represented by the other two volunteers. The rest of the team represents the average group, 130-230 lbs, although one is only 155 lbs while the other is closer to 225.

Based on the data we collected over the past 14 days, it seems that most could agree that this mattress has the potential to accommodate a sizable range of positions and body weights but not exactly all of them. We would give the DreamCloud Hybrid a solid 7/10 on the firmness scale, which is medium firm. It’s plush enough to be comfortable, yet supportive enough to contour the body even in different positions. It’s also worth noting that the mattress was comfortable for two of the three volunteers immediately upon contact. The other took them several days to adjust.

How Does It Feel in Different Sleeping Positions?

Flat Back Sleeping

We’ve found the DreamCloud Hybrid to be a great bed for back sleepers of all weight types. Based on what we know so far from our volunteers, no one seemed to have any issue with its firmness given that its construction is versatile enough to support the back well and keep the spine properly aligned. This one may be a good choice for light-weight sleepers. Not only should it feel supportive enough, but the top layers should allow them to lay on top as comfortable as possible.

The DreamCloud Hybrid may be the best choice for average-weighted people. It should provide them with the right balance of support and relief. Their hips, in particular, should sink into the mattress very nicely while the coils underneath support them. Heavyweight sleepers should also feel the same to some extent, but those who weigh around 300lbs or more may not find it suitable since they may sink in too much to the point where pressure is produced. Dream Without Sleep

Flat Stomach Sleeping

While the DreamCloud mattress may provide most back sleepers with exceptional contouring and spinal alignment, the same can apply to side sleepers, though there are a few notable exceptions. Reactions are mixed for our average-weighted sleepers – our 155-lb volunteer found the bed to be able to support and align their body quite well. The top layers of the bed were a little too soft for their 225-pound counterpart, but he was still able to feel a good amount of support.

The DreamCloud Hybrid may be too soft for heavy people, especially those over 300 lbs. The representative of that group said her hips were sinking into her mattress when she lay on her stomach. It was so uncomfortable she couldn’t sleep in this position. Although stomach sleepers with higher than average weights may have issues with the mattress, lighter people may be able to reap the benefits of this mattress better than others. Considering their build, their hips won’t be able to sink in as much, so they should feel as comfortable on their stomachs as with their backs.

Side sleeping

Among the three weight groups, those of average weight are more likely to gain an upper hand when it comes to side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid. People who weigh 130-190 lbs may find the DreamCloud Hybrid contouring support to be sufficient. However, the pressure on the hips, shoulders, and hips won’t be as intense as they should. Our volunteer of 155 lbs found that the experience was worth it as they were able rest well, regardless of whether they switched sides or stayed on one side. It’s different for those who are 190 or more.

Our heavyweight and 225-lb reps both felt that the mattress was uncomfortable to sleep on their sides. Both experienced a lot of sinking in their hips, shoulders and hips. This can lead to pressure points that could cause minor concurrent pains. As heavier individuals may find the DreamCloud Hybrid to be soft under their weight, those who are lesser than 130 pounds may find it a little bit firmer sometimes to be able to sleep properly. This is what our lightweight volunteer can attest: she found it uncomfortable to sleep on one side for long periods of time, but it was quite comfortable when she switched sides. Minor adjustments can be expected at this rate.

Its Pain Relief Capabilities

While our volunteers had a lot of fun testing the DreamCloud Hybrid’s firmness, it was also possible to assess how effective it is in pain relief. We set up a pressure map over the mattress and asked our volunteers to lie on their stomachs, backs, and sides to determine if there was any pressure difference.

Based on what we observed, it’s clear at this point that the DreamCloud Hybrid could create excellent pressure relief along the back for most sleeper groups. Except for the folks who weigh more than 300 lbs, most sleepers may be able to find comfort and relaxation on the spot – the bed’s layers, including the memory foam, are enough to support their weight equally and contour their silhouette very well, resulting in low pressure across the board. The mattress creates very few pressure points, which means that back pains are less likely to occur. This is especially important for seniors and people who have back problems.

The DreamCloud Hybrid will produce some pressure points in the stomach area, especially along the hips. While light-weight sleepers and those who are average may be able rest comfortably without worrying about pent up pressure, heavy-weight sleepers, particularly those with 300-pound structures, might need to be cautious as excessive sinking could lead to increased pressure points. Dream Without Sleep

We found significant pressure points for most body types when it came to side sleep. No matter how much you weigh, it’s likely that laying sideways on the surface of the DreamCloud Hybrid may make you prone to varying degrees of discomfort, and it gets much worse if you’re heavier. For instance, lighter sleepers may not find the mattress comfortable in this position, while heavier sleepers may feel more pain in their hips and shoulders. This is where the DreamCloud mattress can be a little bit of a problem.

How to Dismantle Its Construction

What is the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress exactly made of? Standing 14 inches tall, the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is packed with noteworthy qualities that help keep the sleeper relaxed and cool throughout the night. It’s equipped with exceptional cooling capabilities to keep the body cool and prevent heat buildup, making it a top-performing hybrid model.

Built using high-quality CertiPUR-US-certified foam layers of varying firmnesses with a thin tier of memory foam in between, it’s also backed with a set of strong innerspring coils to hold the body together. Let’s look at the DreamCloud mattress’s construction.

Layer 1: Cashmere Blend Cover

Cashmere wool is known for its soft touch and luxurious feel. It’s for this reason that DreamCloud chose to incorporate this into the cover of its signature mattress model. The quilt’s cloud-patterned design, which is splayed across the mattress, invites the user to lay down on the bed. The material is breathable and has excellent temperature-regulating characteristics to help cool the sleeper at night.

Layer 2: Contouring Soft Foam

The mattress cover is quilted so you won’t be able to guess what material it is. Quilted under the cashmere-blend cover, lays a supportive plush soft polyfoam designed to provide ample cushioning and support around the body’s weight. This layer, which is 1 1/2 inches in thickness, gives off a pillow-top feeling that most users will likely feel upon touching the bed.

Layer 3: Layer of Memory Foam

Since its inception, memory foam has been widely recognized to adapt and respond to the body’s shape as fluidly as possible and provide much-needed relief from its pressure points. In the case of the DreamCloud Hybrid, it is placed conveniently underneath the quilted top layer. Measuring one inch, it’s appropriate enough to support the sleeper well, but not enough to produce a familiar sinking feeling. Although this material is known for trapping heat well, DreamCloud has incorporated gel infusion to help cool the body.

Layer 4: Layer of Transition Polyfoam

A two-inch thick layer of firm polyfoam is found beneath the memory foam. It acts as a transitional layer between soft mattress and base foundation. It works in two ways: 1) to conform the body’s shape and posture into perfect alignment, and 2) to keep it from further sinking into the mattress until it reaches the coils, which can oftentimes be highly inconvenient.

Layer 5: Innerspring Coils

Speaking of coils, the DreamCloud Hybrid’s very foundation comes in the form of a full system of individually wrapped innerspring coils. Each spring is 8 1/2 inches tall. This contributes to the mattress’s overall height. While most of the coils can respond to the sleeper’s ever-changing movements well, the perimeters are designed to be strategically fortified using stronger steel, effectively making way for better edge support.

Layer 6: Stability Base Layer

A thick layer of standard high-density foam is found beneath the coil set. It acts as a foundation for the mattress and is thick enough to prevent the springs moving, but thin enough to allow airflow. Dream Without Sleep

They will bounce back. It won’t feel as if it were there, but you will be able to appreciate the fact that it is there to prevent it from falling apart.

Layer 7: Shift-Resistant Lower Cover

A tufted cover is added to complete the package. It will keep all layers of the DreamCloud Hybrid safe and sound. It’s not considered the bed’s main layer, but it serves the sole purpose of protecting the foundation. Its rounded borders are adorned with tufted decor to make the mattress appear luxurious, while its four side handles, with two on each side, are sewn in to make transporting it easier and hassle-less.

What was the DreamCloud’s Performance?

A perfect mattress should be able to adapt to the sleeper’s needs. Other than being able to accommodate their body type and preferred sleeping position, there are other important factors that should be considered. This includes their habits and climate. We were able to perform a number of tests during the two-week test period to determine if the DreamCloud Hybrid is a solid staple in the bedroom.

Temperature Control

The DreamCloud Hybrid promises to be equipped with excellent cooling abilities, and we couldn’t agree more when we checked the temperature of one of our volunteers through a thermal camera scanner. This is all thanks to its mix of temperature-regulating materials embedded within the mattress: the gel-infused memory foam layer, the breathable cashmere cover, and the coils that encourage more air to pass through.

This model is ideal for couples or individuals who live in hot climates.

Motion Transfer

The DreamCloud mattress is made from a combination of materials and functions. It may not absorb all motions but it does a good job. We first noticed that one of our volunteers couldn’t feel the other’s movements changing as much when they became more intense. It caused little to no disturbance with small movements.

Similar to most luxury hybrid beds, the DreamCloud Hybrid’s motion isolation capabilities are fairly bearable. This model is not recommended for light sleepers with a restless partner.

Edge Support

The DreamCloud Hybrid is said to provide great edge support with the help of reinforced steel coils around the perimeter/edges, but how accurate is this claim? We tested it by having volunteers lie on the edges of the bed and we found that the claim was mostly accurate. A mattress with exceptional edge support may allow sleepers to take advantage of the surface without fear of falling or sinking.

Our volunteers can attest that the DreamCloud bed’s edges are able to support them well. However, our heavyweight rep stated otherwise. Those who weigh more than 230 lbs may not find this bed as supportive.

Noise

Beds with innerspring coils as their foundation are notorious for making significant squeaking noises, especially coming to terms with intense movement. The same sort of applies to a couple of hybrid beds with springs sandwiched in between layers of foam.

The DreamCloud Hybrid is a rare exception. During our two-week test period, no one noticed any annoying squeaking from the bed. The way it was constructed or the method of wrapping up each oil may be a contributing factor, but regardless, with this model, noise shouldn’t be a huge worry for many. Dream Without Sleep

Ease of Movement

A mattress made from a variety of materials should have the ability to balance contouring and movement. The DreamCloud model does this by making its memory layer compatible with other foam layers. It conforms to the body like a hug. Meanwhile, the coil system beneath the comfort layers should respond to movements quite well, resulting in easier navigation throughout the surface.

As our team tried to move around the bed, we spotted right away that it wasn’t entirely difficult to switch from one side of the surface to another. If you plan to do some motion-intensive activities on the bed, especially, you wouldn’t have any issues with it.

Sex

Speaking of motion-intensive, we see a promising amount of potential in the DreamCloud Hybrid as an ideal bed for sexual activities. People who only engage in sex occasionally may find it beneficial to be able to adjust to their movements quickly. It makes a noticeable difference in noise, so it is possible to have discreet sex.

The medium-firm mattress may not be suitable for partners who prefer to sleep in one or more positions. The DreamCloud mattress is one of the best beds for sex. Dream Without Sleep

Durability

As far as durability is concerned, the DreamCloud Hybrid, as we said before, is composed of high-quality materials and certified layers of foam. Plus, based on some of the reviews about the product that we could find, its overall quality and capabilities may hold up for not just a mere few weeks but months and even years!

How long this durability could last may change depending on the sleeper’s body type, how often they use it, or if they have one or two more persons who lay on its surface. Reflecting on our two-week testing period, we can all agree that the DreamCloud mattress stayed durable enough to not have its ability to provide comfort compromised. We believe it should remain this way for seven to eight more years. Dream Without Sleep

Unboxing and off-gassing the DreamCloud

The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress comes packed neatly and compressed in a box. How heavy it is will entirely depend on the size you may prefer, with the lightest being the twin and the heaviest the King and Cal King. We noticed that many of our team members found it too heavy to transport alone when we opened the Queen-sized version for our tests. So, we added an additional person to ease the burden.

Apart from the mattress, other contents inside the box include a handy booklet for instructions and a free pocket knife that you may use to open it up from the plastic packaging – that is, especially if you don’t have one of your own. After you have rolled it out of the box onto your bed frame, it will be fully compressed. You should wait between 24-48 hours. Since you’re going to encounter a fresh new mattress in front of you, expect it to emit a slightly off-putting odor.

Models made from synthetic foam layers are more likely to emit volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), which can be collected during manufacturing. Since the DreamCloud Hybrid’s foam layers are all CertiPUR-US-certified, the amount should be much less. Regardless, it’s important to leave it out for the smell to dissipate completely after a good day or two. We recommend that you open all windows and doors to the room in order to speed up this process.

Available Sizes and Pricing

Stellar accommodations aside, one thing that the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress arguably shines lies in how it’s priced. Factoring in the kind of materials used in its inception and the remarkable quality of its framework and foundation, it’s no wonder that this model is sold at a range of competitive yet affordable prices.

You may also save money if you order from DreamCloud’s official site. You’re also rewarded with a free set of bedding, including pillowcases, sheets, and a mattress protector, to help make the set-up process simpler.

The DreamCloud Hybrid is currently sold in six standard sizes, with original prices starting from $799 onwards. For more information, including pricing, dimensions and weight, please see the table below.

DreamCloud vs. other top mattresses

You want to look at other options? We’ll help you with that! The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress may be one of the hottest luxury hybrid models in the market, but there are two other competing alternatives out there that deliver the same promise of comfort and are packed with unique aspects that it may not have. Let’s take a look at each of them! Dream Without Sleep

DreamCloud vs. Saatva

The Similarities: Much like the DreamCloud Hybrid, the original Saatva Classic mattress is a luxury hybrid bed that’s excellent in providing comfort and relief to the sleeper’s back. It is also responsive to movement and bouncy, making it easier for you to navigate the surface.

The Differences: Saatva is a bit more expensive than the DreamCloud Hybrid thanks partly to its construction – its coil system is more intricate, and the organic cotton-covered Euro pillowtop makes up for a more snug feeling. The former, which has one firmness option, can be adjusted to suit different body types.

DreamCloud vs. Nectar

The Similarities: Both the Nectar Mattress and DreamCloud Hybrid are delivered in a box, so you and your companion will need to set them up on your own. Both are jam-packed with impressive temperature-regulating capabilities, offer year-long sleep trials, and even come from the same parent company, Resident.

The differences: The DreamCloud Hybrid bed is a hybrid, while Nectar is an all-foam mattress with a thick layer of memory foam between. This means it can easily adapt to a wide range of sleeping positions than just the back. Many even find it to be best suited for strict side sleeping.

Our final thoughts: How is the DreamCloud Hybrid mattress holding up so far?

It’s clear that the DreamCloud Hybrid is an excellent luxury hybrid mattress. We have taken a closer look at it and are now fully testing it ourselves.

It can support and accommodate most people’s backs. However, it is not able to alleviate pressure points in some areas. It’s a great choice for anyone looking for a versatile and well-constructed experience.

Although the DreamCloud Hybrid’s medium-firm surface is inviting, it may not be for everyone. The bed is not strong enough to support 300-pounds or more. Regardless, it’s clear that it has what it takes as a welcoming staple for solo sleepers, couples, and even families!

You also have less to lose if it’s your decision to buy it. You’ll be given plenty of exclusive discount rates from DreamCloud’s official website, plus exceptionally responsive customer service teams to assist you along the way. For this and all the other good reasons regarding the DreamCloud Hybrid, there’s no doubt that we’re giving it a resounding 4.5/5 stars. For what it is, it’s surely worth the try… and the purchase!
