Four volunteers were sent from three weight groups to try out the DreamCloud Hybrid. They were placed in various sleeping positions for a two-week period. Two of them represent the lightweight (130 lbs below) and heavyweight (230 lbs above) sleepers, respectively, while the rest of the team represents the average group (130-230 lbs), although one weighs 155 lbs and the other is close to 225 lbs.
The data collected over the last 14 days suggests that the majority of people could agree that the mattress can accommodate a wide range of body weights and positions. However, not all. If we could rank the DreamCloud Hybrid, we’d give it a solid 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale – medium firm, for sure. It is soft enough to feel comfortable and supportive enough to mold to the body in different positions. It’s also worth noting that the mattress was comfortable for two of the three volunteers immediately upon contact. The other took them several days to adjust.
What does it feel like to sleep in different positions?
Flat Back Sleeping
The DreamCloud Hybrid is a great choice for back sleepers of any weight. Based on what we know so far from our volunteers, no one seemed to have any issue with its firmness given that its construction is versatile enough to support the back well and keep the spine properly aligned. Lightweight sleepers may enjoy this one – not only should they feel supported enough, but its top layers should also give them the feeling of being able to lie on top as comfortably as possible.
The DreamCloud Hybrid may be the best choice for average-weighted people. It should provide them with the right balance of support and relief. The coils beneath the mattress should support their hips and sink into the mattress. Heavyweight sleepers should also feel the same to some extent, but those who weigh around 300lbs or more may not find it suitable since they may sink in too much to the point where pressure is produced. Flat Stomach Sleeping
While the DreamCloud mattress may provide most back sleepers with exceptional contouring and spinal alignment, the same can apply to side sleepers, though there are a few notable exceptions. Reactions are mixed for our average-weighted sleepers – our 155-lb volunteer found the bed to be able to support and align their body quite well. The top layers of the bed were a little too soft for their 225-pound counterpart, but he was still able to feel a good amount of support.
Heavy folks, particularly those who weigh nearly 300 lbs, may find the DreamCloud Hybrid to be too soft for their liking. Our representative from that group told us her hips were sinking into the mattress often whenever she laid on her stomach, and it reached the point where she found it a bit uncomfortable to sleep in this position. While it seems that stomach sleepers who weigh more than average may find issues with this mattress, lightweight individuals may reap the benefits of relief better than other denominations. Side sleeping
Side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid is more common for those who are average in weight than the others. For folks who weigh between 130-190 lbs, they may receive an ample amount of contouring support, and the pressure along the hips and shoulders won’t be as much so they should be good. According to our 155-lb volunteer, the experience was worthwhile as they were able to rest well regardless if they switch to either side or stick to one. For those who weigh 190 lbs onwards, it’s a different story.
Both our heavyweight and 225-lb reps have expressed that the mattress was a bit uncomfortable to sleep on sideways. Both have experienced frequent sinking in their hips and shoulders, creating pressure points that may lead to minor concurrent pains. As heavier individuals may find the DreamCloud Hybrid to be soft under their weight, those who are lesser than 130 pounds may find it a little bit firmer sometimes to be able to sleep properly. Our lightweight volunteer can attest to this: when she tried to rest strictly on one side for a prolonged period, she felt as if the top layers were too firm at times, but when it came to sleeping with her sides interchanged, it turned out to be decently comfortable. At this rate, minor adjustments are more likely expected.
Its Pain Relief Capabilities
As our volunteers were having a ball with testing the DreamCloud Hybrid’s firmness, we also managed to examine how well it fared in terms of pain relief. To do this, we set up a pressure map on top of the mattress, and, once that was done, we asked the four volunteers to lay on the back, stomach, and both sides of their bodies to see if there was any significant pressure difference that we could spot right away.
Based on what we observed, it’s clear at this point that the DreamCloud Hybrid could create excellent pressure relief along the back for most sleeper groups. Except for the folks who weigh more than 300 lbs, most sleepers may be able to find comfort and relaxation on the spot – the bed’s layers, including the memory foam, are enough to support their weight equally and contour their silhouette very well, resulting in low pressure across the board. The mattress creates very few pressure points, which means that back pains are less likely to occur. This is especially important for seniors and people who have back problems.
The DreamCloud Hybrid will produce some pressure points in the stomach area, especially along the hips. Lightweight and average sleepers may be able to rest soundly without the imminent fear of pent-up pressure, but heavyweight ones, especially those whose structure is adjacent to 300lbs, may need to watch out as too much sinking may lead to an increase in pressure points. When it came to side sleeping, we spotted some significant pressure points on most body types. It doesn’t matter what your weight, side sleeping on the DreamCloud Hybrid will cause discomfort. The problem is worse for those who are heavier. Lighter sleepers, for instance, may not enjoy the feel of the mattress in this position for long periods, while heavy-weighted ones may not like it equally as they tend to sink into it more to the point where they feel pain in their shoulders and hips. This is where the DreamCloud mattress can be a little bit of a problem.
How to Dismantle Its Construction
What exactly is the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress made of? Standing 14 inches tall, the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is packed with noteworthy qualities that help keep the sleeper relaxed and cool throughout the night. Layer 1: Cashmere Blend Cover
Cashmere wool has been historically known for being soft to the touch and luxurious in its feel. DreamCloud incorporated this in the cover for its signature mattress model. Splayed across the surface, its cloud-patterned quilt design is enough to invite the person to lie on the bed freely. The material is breathable and has excellent temperature-regulating characteristics to help cool the sleeper at night.
Layer 2: Contouring Soft foam
Since the mattress cover is quilted, after all, you wouldn’t guess which material is stitched onto until now! Layer 3: Memory Foam Layer
Since its inception, memory foam has been widely recognized to adapt and respond to the body’s shape as fluidly as possible and provide much-needed relief from its pressure points. In the case of the DreamCloud Hybrid, it is placed conveniently underneath the quilted top layer. Measuring one inch, it’s appropriate enough to support the sleeper well, but not enough to produce a familiar sinking feeling. This material may be notorious for trapping heat, but DreamCloud fixes this by incorporating gel infusion, allowing their body temperature to be cooled down further along with the indented cover.
Layer 4: Layer of Transition Polyfoam
A two-inch thick layer of firm polyfoam is found beneath the memory foam. It acts as a transitional layer between soft mattress and base foundation. It serves two purposes: 1) it conforms the body’s posture and shape to the coils; and 2) it keeps it from sinking further into the mattress, which can be very inconvenient.
Layer 5: Innerspring Coils
Speaking of coils, the DreamCloud Hybrid’s very foundation comes in the form of a full system of individually wrapped innerspring coils. Contributing to the total height of the mattress at just 8 1/2 inches, each spring is enrobed with a breathable fiber – this way, it should help maximize the bed’s cooling capabilities, letting more air in and more heat from the body out. The coils can be responsive to the sleeper’s changing movements very well. However, the perimeters of the mattress are strategically strengthened with stronger steel to provide better edge support.
Layer 6: Stability Base Layer

Layer 7: Shift-Resistant Lower Cover
To cap it all off is a tufted cover to store all the layers within the DreamCloud Hybrid safely in place. It’s not considered the bed’s main layer, but it serves the sole purpose of protecting the foundation. The mattress’s round borders are embellished with tufted decor. It also has four sides handles that are sewn into the side to make it easy to transport.
How Well Did the DreamCloud Perform?
A perfect mattress should be able to adapt to the sleeper’s needs. Other than being able to accommodate their body type and preferred sleeping position, there are other important factors that should be considered. This includes their habits and climate. We were able to perform a number of tests during the two-week test period to determine if the DreamCloud Hybrid is a solid staple in the bedroom.
Temperature Control
The DreamCloud Hybrid promises to be equipped with excellent cooling abilities, and we couldn’t agree more when we checked the temperature of one of our volunteers through a thermal camera scanner. This is all thanks to its mix of temperature-regulating materials embedded within the mattress: the gel-infused memory foam layer, the breathable cashmere cover, and the coils that encourage more air to pass through.
This model is ideal for couples or individuals who live in hot climates.
Motion Transfer
Considering what it’s made of and how it functions, the DreamCloud mattress may not fully absorb a person’s motions, but it does a decent job, regardless. We first noticed that one of our volunteers couldn’t feel the other’s movements changing as much when they became more intense. When it came to small movements, it resulted in a lesser to no sign of disturbance.
Similar to most luxury hybrid beds, the DreamCloud Hybrid’s motion isolation capabilities are fairly bearable. Average persons may willingly look past it, but as for any light sleeper with an often restless partner beside them, this model may not be an ideal choice.
Edge Support
DreamCloud Hybrid claims to offer great edge support thanks to reinforced steel coils placed around the edges and perimeter. But how accurate is that claim? When we checked it out by letting out volunteers sit and lie along the edges of the bed, we then found out that it was mostly true, though not entirely. If a mattress has exceptional edge support, sleepers may likely take advantage of its surface without the imminent fear of sinking or falling off it.
While most of our volunteers could attest to the DreamCloud bed’s edges being able to support them decently well, our heavyweight rep said otherwise – those who weigh 230 and beyond may not find this bed supportive enough.
Noise
Beds with innerspring coils as their foundation are notorious for making significant squeaking noises, especially coming to terms with intense movement. The same sort of applies to a couple of hybrid beds with springs sandwiched in between layers of foam.

Mobility made easy
A mattress made from a variety of materials should have the ability to balance contouring and movement. The DreamCloud model does this by making its memory layer compatible with other foam layers. It conforms to the body like a hug. Meanwhile, the coil system beneath the comfort layers should respond to movements quite well, resulting in easier navigation throughout the surface.
As our team tried to move around the bed, we spotted right away that it wasn’t entirely difficult to switch from one side of the surface to another. It would be fine if you were to perform motion-intensive activities on it.
Sex
Speaking of motion-intensive, we see a promising amount of potential in the DreamCloud Hybrid as an ideal bed for sexual activities. Folks who engage in sex once in a while may surely enjoy its ability to adapt to their movements swiftly. It makes a noticeable difference in noise, so it is possible to have discreet sex.

Unboxing and Off-Gassing the DreamCloud
The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is neatly packed and sealed in a box. The size of the mattress will determine how heavy it is. The twin is the lightest and Cal King and King are the most heavy. When we unboxed the Queen-sized version to be used for our tests, we noticed that some of our teammates find it quite heavy to carry it alone, so from that point onwards we needed an extra person to help ease the burden.
Other than the mattress, the box also contains a booklet with instructions and a pocket knife. This is especially useful if you don’t already have one. After you have rolled it out of the box onto your bed frame, it will be fully compressed. You should wait between 24-48 hours. Expect a slight off-putting smell because you will be interacting with a brand new mattress.
Models made from synthetic foam layers are more likely to emit volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), which can be collected during manufacturing. Since the DreamCloud Hybrid’s foam layers are all CertiPUR-US-certified, the amount should be much less. Regardless, it’s important to leave it out for the smell to dissipate completely after a good day or two.
